A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 498: Qi Shell + Aether Shell ?

Aksai let out a long, shaky breath.

His eyes didn’t open yet, but the tension in his shoulders eased. He immersed himself in the effects of the Spirit Qi Bifecta Elixir.

Yelia said nothing.

She simply sat there on the porch with him, letting him recover. She knew what that potion meant—how rare and valuable it was. Only three vials of it existed. And this one was now gone.

But she also knew he wouldn’t mind. Because she understood the need of the hour.

Aksai needed to be at his best. Not just for his own safety, but for what came next. The Aether Beast ritual had to begin soon, and the sooner it began, the better the results would be. Any delay would reduce the chances and quality of success.

So Yelia had taken the liberty.

Aksai slowly opened his eyes and sat up. His body felt light, his head clear. He let out a soft breath and stretched both arms over his head.

His joints popped lightly, and he rolled his shoulders, easing the leftover tension from his muscles.

He looked down at himself. His clothes were nothing more than scraps now—torn, blood-stained, and clinging to his skin in the worst way.

With no hesitation and no shame, especially not in front of Yelia, he stood up and pulled the rags off completely. The Spirit farmer was completely at ease in his naked glory.

Yelia stood nearby, her expression calm. Aksai gave her a light smile.

“Thank you,” he said.

Yelia’s eyes swept over his lean and muscular frame just once before she returned his smile and nodded.

“You’re welcome, my liege.”

Without another word, Aksai turned and walked barefoot into the heart of the farm, his feet brushing past glowing Spirit crops that shimmered with gentle energy. The land responded to him, clearing a path.

Soon, he reached the large body lying still on the open ground. The Verdant Elder. The demon beast that had nearly killed him.

Aksai stopped in front of the corpse and sighed.

He had spent months planning for the expedition into Dua Forest. He then spent a few more months crossing the Haan Di territory. Then he had to take a detour in the Holy Land Torel.

As if all that was not enough, he had to spend a few more months tracking this creature. Planning. Preparing. Looking for the right conditions.

It had been more than two years since he left the Emerald Cove. It indeed felt like a long and arduous journey to someone who was quite fond of staying cooped up in the comfort of his palace, surrounded by maids.

Finding a compatible beast for his Aether cultivation wasn’t just about pure strength—it needed to match his temperament as well compatibility with his elemental nature. In all of Dadangar, he had only found a few that came close. But this one was the best option.

Of course, if he had gone to Acarnis earlier, maybe he would’ve found a more suitable beast in less time. But that place was far more dangerous than Dadangar. He preferred slow and steady progress. The kind that didn’t get him killed.

Thinking that, he felt no regrets.

He took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then he reached into his storage ring and pulled out the AetherTech Shard—a thin, dark shard inscribed with lines of Aether runes that flickered like purple starlight.

It had been given to him by the New Dawn organization from Acarnis, and it contained the method for the Aether Beast Ritual. It was the modified method of cultivating an Aether Wisp– by turning a beast soul into an Aether Beast.

Just as he was about to begin the process, a voice came from behind him.

“Wait, my liege.”

He turned slightly. Yelia walked toward him with a calm but serious look.

“What is it?” he asked, frowning.

Yelia stopped beside him and looked down at the beast.

“This demon beast is still alive,” she said softly.

Aksai blinked.

“What?”

“Please, use your Spirit Sense. Check its heartbeats,” she said, nodding toward the massive chest of the Verdant Elder.

Aksai closed his eyes and focused. His Spirit Sense flowed into the beast’s body. For a moment, he felt nothing. Then, faint and almost gone, he felt it.

Padam-padam!

Padam-padam!

Padam-padam!

A mild heartbeat. Barely there, slow, distant—like a drum echoing underwater.

He opened his eyes in surprise.

“It’s still beating…”

Yelia nodded.

“You destroyed his brain. Your attack using the three celestial meteor weapons destroyed his Chakra Gate by harming his brain and skull. But it seems the body hasn’t completely shut down. It’s in a vegetative state. Not truly alive… but not dead either.”

Aksai thought back to the final strike. The silver Qi threads. The weapons that formed a triangle inside the beast’s head. He had gone for the brain to avoid damaging the body—he needed the vessel to be whole for the ritual.

But at this point, this had changed things.

“Hmmm…. Indeed this thing is alive. But too bad for this guy… the Aether Beast ritual requires a dead beast,” he muttered.

He raised his hand. In a flash, the Celestial Fang appeared in his grip, glowing faintly with silver light. He positioned himself to strike—intending to end it quickly by taking off the beast’s head.

But Yelia stepped forward once more.

“Wait again, my liege,” she said, her tone steady but excited.

Aksai paused.

“There’s a better way to make use of this situation,” she added, smiling as her eyes met his.

Aksai lowered the Celestial Fang slowly and turned to Yelia. His eyes narrowed slightly in curiosity.

“Hmm? What do you mean by that?” he asked. “Explain it to me clearly.”

Yelia nodded once, then stepped beside him. Her voice was soft but firm as she began to speak.

“My liege, just like you have formed an Aether Shell to house an Aether Wisp, it is also possible to form something similar for Qi. A Qi Shell to house a Qi Wisp.”
