The remnant energy undulations continued to propagate throughout the field after hitting Chi Chi. Numerous fearful gazes were directed towards him in his miserable state. There was a deep gash on his chest, and despite his best efforts to pour resonant power into the wound to heal it, the wound continued to crackle with wild thunder energy, charring his flesh and blood.
The immense pain caused his expression to distort hideously. The conclusion was unexpected. He had been deeply wounded with a single strike. The sharper ones then turned towards Li Luo and fearfully looked at the blade imbued with thunder energy. Its wild explosive power and unparalleled sharpness caused even their eyelids to twitch.
This was a high-grade Mythic Armament!
Some had covetous looks in their eyes as such a treasure was of great help to Dukes. It allowed them to threaten opponents an entire grade higher.
With such a keen weapon, it was no surprise that Chi Chi had been injured.
"As I said. You won't be able to take her away." Li Luo pointed his blade menacingly towards Chi Chi.
The latter's eyes were filled with animalistic fury as he shouted, "Do you think that defeating me means you can protect her? I'm not the only one from the Chi family here. You stinking brat, being a second-grade Transcendent might indicate you have great potential, but there are many geniuses who have died before they even got to fully develop! Is it really worth it doing all this for her?"
Seeing that this fellow was still acting aggressively, Li Luo no longer bothered with superfluous words. Thunder burst out of the sword, and violent blade energy hacked towards Chi Chi like a bolt of lightning.
This energy was infused with roiling killing intent, so no one watching would doubt that Li Luo was acting to kill.
Since he had already sown enmity, he might as well act decisively and pull the roots out entirely. However, the blade energy surprisingly did not manage to strike Chi Chi. Someone had appeared in front of him and stretched his hand out, condensing frightening amounts of resonant power in his palm. He then grabbed the roaring thunder blade energy and shattered it.
This sudden interference caused Li Luo to squint. The man in front of him was wearing the robes of a Mythical Spirit Ancient College mentor.
His eyebrows were light-gold and he had a smile on his face, which gave him a magnanimous appearance.
"My friend, you've already taught him a lesson. There is no need to kill him, is there?" He waved his sleeve, causing the remnant thunder energy to dissipate as he flashed a grin towards Li Luo.
"Mentor Lu Dian!" Chi Chi blurted out in joy when he saw who had stepped in to assist him.
At this point, whispers broke out amongst the squads who were watching.
"That’s Lu Dian. He's a seventh-grade Duke and is also one of the Seedling Candidates from the Mythical Spirit Ancient College."
"Chi Chi is currently borrowing the name of Mythical Spirit Ancient College to participate in the Celestial Mirror Pagoda. Lu Dian cannot simply stand by and watch idly as he is cut down."
As the crowd gossipped, the newcomer, Lu Dian, grinned. "It might be easy for you to kill him, but Chi Chi also has an older brother called Chi Li. He is the Chi family's strongest expert of this generation, and he has been a mentor at the Mythical Spirit Ancient College for many years. He is stronger than me by quite a bit. Thus, why do you want to sow enmity between you?"
"Chi Li..." Li Luo didn't react upon hearing this name. However, Chi Chan's delicate body trembled slightly. Chi Li was the most outstanding and talented member of their family in the current generation, and if he had also come to the Celestial Mirror Pagoda, he would be a huge threat. It would also bring trouble to Li Luo, Cao Sheng, and Mi Er.
At this point, Chi Chan began to feel a little bit of regret for coming here. After hiding for so many years, it was unexpected that her efforts had been in vain.
Li Luo could sense Chi Chan's feelings, so he frowned and glared at Lu Dian. "Is there a need to use one's background to suppress others?"
Lu Dian's smile faltered. Although Li Luo was young, he was completely different from the youths that they mentored. Although he had a sharp edge when dealing with people, he also seemed a little too naive.
"One's background is also a form of strength. There is a Dual Crowned King that sits atop the Chi family, and your sage college would simply be unwise to offend someone like that," Lu Dian explained.
"Oh really?" Li Luo then put the Dragon Elephant Thunder Blade away and heaved a sigh of relief.
"You should have said that earlier, then I wouldn't have had to put in so much effort. I thought relying on one's ability was the most important thing."
Lu Dian was slightly startled, but then he smiled. This unparalleled prodigy seemed to have finally figured out what he was getting at. That was for the best.
However, before he could say anything, Li Luo's face turned cold and arrogant. He looked at Chi Chi and said indifferently, "Now it's my turn to introduce myself. I'm Li Luo from the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent's Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li. I am a member of the Dragon's Fang Lineage. My ancestor is a Heavenly Emperor and my mother is a Greater Transcendent Duke. How is your Chi family, with only one Dual Crowned King, able to threaten me?"
Li Luo currently resembled a wanton playboy who could act however he wished. Chi Chi's originally ferocious expression suddenly froze.
Lu Dian's smirk also vanished.
"The Heavenly Origin Divine Continent's Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li?" Chi Chi's eyes shook. He had originally wanted to ridicule the other party, but thinking about how Li Luo was a second-grade Transcendent, his words actually seemed credible. If what he said was true, then using the Chi family's influence to suppress him was a joke.
Lu Dian glared at Li Luo, as though he had remembered something. Then he said thoughtfully, "I remember hearing that the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent's younger generation has produced a Transcendent genius. Could that be you?"
Li Luo casually replied, "Perhaps."
When faced with his attitude, Lu Dian wasn't fazed and continued to smile. "Then it's clear that my eyesight has deteriorated. I had never expected that the Transcendent prodigy from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li would participate under a sage college at the Celestial Mirror Pagoda. Today's matter can be said to be a result of Chi Chi's recklessness. He is currently accompanying my squad, and I naturally cannot let something happen to him under my watch. I hope you can understand that."
Lu Dian's smile was warm and the way he spoke to Li Luo had become much more courteous after understanding his background. However, he did not become humble over this. After all, the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li was entrenched in the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent, so its reach couldn't stretch over to the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent. Furthermore, he was a member of the ancient college there and was a mentor who could rely on the academic federation. Truthfully speaking, he wasn't afraid of Li Luo's background in the slightest. That said, the current matter didn't have much to do with him, so Lu Dian didn't want to get any more involved with this. After all, there was no reason to offend a Heavenly Emperor power for nothing.
Li Luo understood this as well and didn't plan to pursue this conflict, so he asked, "Then do you still plan to capture my mentor?"
Chi Chi's expression turned gloomy as he venomously glared at Li Luo and Chi Chan. He no longer said anything else, instead turning to leave while clutching his injuries. He wasn’t strong enough to overcome Li Luo and his background couldn't hold a candle to his. If he were to remain, he would truly be looking to humiliate himself.
Lu Dian similarly turned to leave, but before he did so, he flashed Li Luo a smile. "Mentor Li Luo, Chi Chi might not be very strong, but if news of this spreads to Mentor Chi Li, someone with his personality would not let things go so easily. He's taught in the Mythical Spirit Ancient College for many years, and his power and reputation are far greater than mine. Thus, your background as a member of a Heavenly Emperor power may not deter him, especially within the Celestial Mirror Pagoda. Perhaps it might not be a good thing to stand against him. Of course, this is just my personal advice..."
Li Luo's smile faded upon hearing this. He stared at Lu Dian and indifferently replied, "Then I'll have to beseech you, Mentor Lu Dian, to send a message on my behalf. My mentor stepped in to assist me when I needed help many years ago, standing beside me and delivering coal in the thick of winter. Thus, she is someone exceptionally important to me. I don't care what sort of enmity the Chi family has with her, but if Mentor Chi Li wants to come and cause trouble for her... I hope that he comes with a death wish."
Chi Chan’s beautiful eyes fell on Li Luo's upright and resolute back when she heard those murderous words coming from the usually calm and carefree youth. He was no longer the seedling that required her protection when she first met him in the Choosing of the Mentors. Her eyes turned red and ripples of emotion could be seen within them.
Lu Dian was also a little bit taken aback as he could sense the killing intent in Li Luo's words. It was clear that Li Luo's relationship with Chi Chan wasn't ordinary. "I understand, I'll pass the message on for you." He nodded and then rushed to leave.
Deep in his heart, he sighed. If he truly were to pass those words to Chi Li, it would very likely turn into a battle that would only end when one died if Li Luo were to meet him in the Celestial Mirror Martial Exchange. Although Li Luo had immense potential and had become a second-grade Transcendent at a young age, he wasn't Chi Li's opponent in terms of true battle power. Perhaps in two more years, he would have the ability to rise to the top. That said this would have nothing to do with Lu Dian either way.
Li Luo's eyes remained fixed on Lu Dian's departing figure when his heart suddenly trembled. He then turned around and glanced at a location not far away. There, he saw a figure garbed in green with a willowy and beautiful body. He didn't know when she had started quietly staring at him with her icy, blue eyes. That was the familiar face of an old friend.
Facing Li Luo, who revealed a look of excited surprise, the figure in green lightly said, "Li Luo, it's been a while."
