Affinity: Chaos

Chapter 1738: Invaded By Ice Poison

Everyone held their breaths as they watched Klaus, who still had his hands placed on the ice wall. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that Klaus had completely toppled their view of the outside world. If not for the fact that no one else from the Moonlight Faction performed close to as extraordinary as he did, these people would've thought all those from the outside world were monsters. After all, given the percentage of people who managed to get past the Seventh floor from the numbers of people present on the side of the Moonlight Faction, it was quite high from such a few numbers.

Thinking of this, they didn't react in any particular way since they knew that all those who came from the Moonlight Faction were their elites.

The light on the wall hadn't gone dim yet, which was a sign that there was still a chance that it might be able to advance once again.

Klaus stared at the wall, his arrogance shooting to the peak as he looked at the ice wall with utmost confidence. If he stopped on the Second Order of the Twelfth floor, he wouldn't have dared to believe he would get to that Thirteenth floor, but now that he was in the First Order, his momentum didn't drop, rather, it soared.

He had already broken through with the help of this ice wall, now, all he wanted to do was to make sure he achieved the greatest result possible.

Klaus shifted his gaze from the ice wall to the face of the young man who just made a bet with him, and he couldn't help but flash him a warm, friendly smile like they were long-time friends. Anyone who saw this and didn't know of what had previously transpired would think Klaus had any form of goodwill towards the young man; only those present knew that Klaus didn't have any form of goodwill for him; rather, he wanted to steal a great opportunity from the laps of the young man.

Since Klaus had already passed the Eleventh floor, he had automatically taken away this opportunity, which almost turned the eyes of the young man bloodshot. He knew that given the number of people present, there was no way he could renege on this bet. If the duo were alone, he would've used his superior cultivation stage to try to force Klaus to not take his treasure. Unfortunately, they weren't alone.

Klaus didn't keep his gaze long on the face of the young man, he was under tremendous pressure, even if he didn't show it on his face, but the chill penetrating his body from the Twelfth floor of the Ice Chamber was very difficult to handle, even for him, it wasn't by any chance easy.

His tolerance to cold was higher than the average top geniuses due to his high mastery in that department. Luckily, his cultivation stage wasn't too high, else he might've already been the number one person when it came to ice abilities.

He calmed himself and focused entirely on the challenge before him. Anyone who got to this stage will naturally be unwilling to give up here, especially for someone as prideful as Klaus.

From Klaus' palm, everyone soon noticed a white ice slowly spreading from his palm into his body.

"The ice poison is attacking him!"

"Remove your hand if you don't want to die!"

People from the crowd exclaimed, while some even warned Klaus when they noticed this. They might not like his arrogance, but his talent was undeniable.

"Wait, how come he was able to use the energy from the ice wall to cultivate?" Someone suddenly asked.

Previously, no one had thought about this due to Klaus' breathtaking performance, but seeing the ice poison flare up, they suddenly recalled something important: the energy from the ice wall was impossible to cultivate due to the high amount of ice poison it contained.

Inside the Ice Chamber, one didn't need to fear this ice poison since the essence in that chamber had already been dealt with, but the one here hadn't. The reason it wasn't is actually simple: the people who created this thing didn't want anyone to use it to cultivate; after all, its sole purpose was for this test. If everyone could use it to cultivate, then most people would spend longer here, making the time for the test even longer.

Thinking about all this, most of the people in the crowd actually showed worried looks. Of course, there are a few people from the younger generation who had mocking smiles on their faces. These people weren't impressed by Klaus, they felt he was smacking their faces since he was acting high and mighty even before them. They didn't think highly of anyone from the outside world, no matter how talented the person was.

A few of the youths from the Moonlight Faction had worried expressions on. They could hear the conversation ongoing and knew that Klaus was most likely in danger at the moment. Shooting a worried look at Faction Leader Beatrice, they saw that she didn't have much of a reaction. Not just her, but the other Elders had the same relaxed expression on their faces.

The ice was still spreading from Klaus' palm, however, he didn't show any signs of removing his palm from the ice wall. With his eyes closed, his brows furrowed as he showed a look of utmost seriousness on his face. Clearly, he, too, had noticed this thing.

The ice spread all the way to his shoulder, before completely enveloping his entire body.

Suzanne wanted to take a step forward to stop Klaus. However, she saw an Elder from her Faction shake his head at her, indicating that she shouldn't act rashly and continue watching. These Elders could already see that Klaus' situation was not ordinary. If Klaus were in any danger, the carving shouldn't still be lit, this is something they were all too aware of. Although this ice wall was an inanimate object, it was still designed in a way that once it notices that the intake of ice poison in anyone's body has gotten to a life-threatening point, it would automatically stop sending it out.
