Chapter 892: 891 Warning
Although Shen Yuting was hit by a car, the accident was not serious. She rested for two weeks and started working this week.
When Mo Xiuchen arrived, a pregnant woman had just come out. Through the glass window, seeing Mo Xiuchen outside, a flicker of joy passed through Shen Yuting’s eyes, and she immediately got up and walked out.
“Mo Xiuchen, what brings you here?”
Shen Yuting couldn’t hide the delight in her eyes and voice, both tinted with joy.
Mo Xiuchen glanced at the pregnant women lining up in the hallway and said indifferently, “It seems I’ve come at an inconvenient time.”
“Not at all, come in and we’ll talk.”
Shen Yuting let Mo Xiuchen into the office and gave a couple of instructions to a nurse nearby. The nurse left the office and gently closed the door.
“Mo Xiuchen, take a seat.”
Compared to Shen Yuting’s warm welcome, Mo Xiuchen’s overly indifferent expression seemed coldly hurtful.
Seeing him sit down on the sofa, Shen Yuting also sat and gazed at him with her beautiful eyes, asking with concern, “Mo Xiuchen, how is the wound on your arm healing?”
Mo Xiuchen lowered his gaze to his arm, then looked up with deep eyes at Shen Yuting’s blooming smile. His crisp voice flowed from his thin lips, “I just changed the dressing. It should heal in a few more days.”
“You must be careful these days to avoid infection.”
As Shen Yuting spoke, her hands in front of her slightly crossed each other. Whether out of joy or nervousness, facing Mo Xiuchen made her feel inexplicably tense.
“Don’t worry, Ranran is coming back this afternoon. With her taking care of me, I won’t get infected,” he reassured.
The expression on Mo Xiuchen’s usually stern face suddenly softened with a smile. As if the words ‘Ranran’ brought a warm spring breeze that instantly dispelled all the cold around him.
The sudden transition from winter’s chill to spring warmth brought pain to Shen Yuting, as if an invisible knife slashed across her heart, her smile stiffening.
“Ranran is coming back today?”
She dared not show her sadness. Her smile briefly stiffened but soon returned to its bright state.
Mo Xiuchen’s smile broadened, his eyes glowing with warmth, “Yes, Ranran will arrive this afternoon. I came this morning specifically to change the dressing, and I’ll pick up Ranran from the airport in the afternoon.”
Despite her attempts to ignore the pain in her heart, the happiness in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes stung her, making her eyes water. She looked down, her fingers tightening as she softly said, “Mo Xiuchen, why didn’t you let Ranran stay out a few more days until your arm healed before having her come back? If Ranran learns that you were injured, she might worry too much.”
“As long as no one deliberately leads her to worry, it’ll be fine.” The sudden sternness in Mo Xiuchen’s tone startled Shen Yuting, causing her to abruptly look up.
The man before her had a grim expression, his gaze sharp, and the aura around him devoid of the earlier warmth, now laced with a trace of chill.
He changed his demeanor faster than the weather could change.
Shen Yuting was not foolish, but understanding only intensified the sourness flooding her heart; his visit today was a warning.
“Mo Xiuchen, rest assured, I won’t mention that day to Ranran. However, Cheng Jia is still out there somewhere, so be careful not to let her harm Ranran,” she said in a low, slightly sad voice.
Mo Xiuchen nodded in satisfaction, then added, “Once Ranran is back, invite Jiang Liu and let’s have a meal together.”
Shen Yuting’s expression subtly changed, her voice somewhat stiff as she spoke, “Jiang Liu and I have already broken up.”
“Since you’ve already broken up, let it be,” Mo Xiuchen didn’t ask for the reason, not sparing Shen Yuting even a word of concern, pretending not to see the disappointment in her eyes. He stood up, “I’m heading to the company now.”
“Your arm hasn’t healed; I’ll take you back.”
“Little Liu is waiting for me outside.”
After saying this, Mo Xiuchen turned and left.
Shen Yuting opened her mouth but didn’t manage to speak a word, watching his resolute figure disappear from her sight, her hands by her sides slowly clenched tighter.
Mo Xiuchen, why are you always so cruel to me?
Whether before the amnesia or after, he just couldn’t see her good qualities. She had loved him for so many years, not even glancing at another man but him, thinking she was the closest female to him.
Yet, the moment Wen Ran appeared, his usual behavior of not letting women near him disappeared. She would forever remember the warmth in his eyes when he mentioned Wen Ran in the car the day she returned to the country, how heartbroken it made her feel.
If Wen Ran weren’t her cousin, she might still have had a chance, but fate played its cruel hand, making Wen Ran her own blood cousin.
No matter how reluctant she felt, there was nothing she could do.
Latterly, she tried to forget Mo Xiuchen and started dating Jiang Liu. Furthermore, regarding Jiang Liu’s imitation of Mo Xiuchen’s behavior and mannerisms, she not only did not stop him but also unintentionally encouraged him to learn more from Mo Xiuchen.
There was a time when she truly wanted to forget Mo Xiuchen and tried liking Jiang Liu. Until Mo Xiuchen lost his memory and Cheng Jia forced Wen Ran to swear never to be with Mo Xiuchen again, in that moment, despite her anger at Cheng Jia’s despicability, a small twinge of glee burgeoned within her…
Since the last time Mo Xiuchen helped her steady herself in the hospital to avoid a fall, Shen Yuting’s heart had never been able to settle. Two weeks ago, when she pushed Mo Xiuchen away and got hit by a car herself, those suppressed feelings could no longer be contained and burst forth like spring grass breaking through the soil.
Three days ago, she proposed a breakup to Jiang Liu.
Mo Xiuchen walked out of the hospital. Outside, Little Liu immediately got out of the car upon seeing him, opened the door, and respectfully stood by waiting for him.
“Young master.”
Mo Xiuchen glanced at him, then ducked into the car.
“Is there still no news of Cheng Jia?”
After the car started moving, Mo Xiuchen leaned back in the seat, his voice slightly cold as he asked.
Little Liu, looking at him in the rearview mirror, respectfully replied, “Young master, there is still no news. Could Cheng Jia have gone abroad?”
Otherwise, why had they been searching for so long and still couldn’t find Cheng Jia.
Mo Xiuchen furrowed his brows, took out his phone, and made a call. Seeing him on the phone, Little Liu didn’t dare to speak anymore and focused on driving.
Upon reaching the office, Mo Xiuchen immediately dialed the internal line as soon as he entered, asking Mo Zixuan to come to his office.
Two minutes later, Mo Zixuan appeared in Mo Xiuchen’s office, asking with puzzlement, “What’s the matter?”
“Ranran is coming back this afternoon, and Zhou Lin and her daughter are also returning to the country with her. Did you know?” Mo Xiuchen scanned Mo Zixuan with a detached gaze, then bowed his head, pressing the power switch on his computer.
Mo Zixuan’s expression changed slightly, his voice somewhat stiff as he replied, “I didn’t know; Zhou Lin hasn’t called me.”
