Chapter 2978: Taking Away

Vionne and Gisele both cautiously stole glances at Fang Heng, their eyes filled with urgency.

Fang Heng had secretly mined a great deal of ore from the Shadow Clan Alliance.

Previously, the Shadow Clan had been focused entirely on the various insect nests and didn’t have the manpower to thoroughly investigate the mutant worms that had invaded the mining zones.

If they didn’t leave soon, they were bound to be discovered.

Zaka was also becoming impatient, glancing at Fang Heng from time to time.

The main battlefield was now a complete mess, and the Seed of Ouroboros had suffered heavy damage—this was the perfect opportunity to loot and hunt for treasure.

How could Mr. Fang resist jumping in to grab a share?

Fang Heng’s expression remained calm as he stared at the center of the battlefield.

The ’cultivator’ mother form, under the combined assault of the Shadow Clan and Crocodile Clan, was no longer capable of effective resistance. Its health had been rapidly depleted until it finally shattered completely before everyone’s eyes.

The Crocodile Clan team quickly recovered a Seed of Ouroboros cocoon from the remains of the mother form and respectfully handed it over to the Shadow Clan.

Seeing the insect nest destroyed, the Crocodile Clan captain was in high spirits. He laughed heartily and patted Fang Heng on the shoulder. "Brother, it seems that the ’cultivator’ you talked about wasn’t that strong after all. This war is over."

With the insect nest gone, Fang Heng and the allied races that had been invited to assist were no longer of use.

Next, the Shadow Clan and its allies would begin dividing up the world’s ore resources.

The Crocodile Clan began ushering others away.

"Your mission is complete. You can pack up and leave now. Leave the rest to us."

Fang Heng ignored the mocking tone in the Crocodile Clan’s voice and shifted his gaze away from the Crocodile Clan scavenging for cocoons on the battlefield.

"Indeed, I was overthinking it. The mission is done. We’ll take our leave."

Zaka curled his lips and cursed inwardly. The Crocodile Clan wasn’t much better—they were nothing but the Shadow Clan’s lapdogs. Still, he followed Fang Heng and Captain Gisele as they returned to their respective ships.

Even though they had collected a lot of ore recently and made a fortune, was this really it?

It felt like a story ending halfway through.

Zaka glanced at Fang Heng beside him and quietly reminded him, "Mr. Fang, shouldn’t we stop the ore theft now? If they turn around and start investigating carefully, they might find clues leading back to us."

"Yes. Resource extraction has already stopped. You all return and prepare for the transition. Wait for my message. We still have two things to do—we’ll be back shortly."

As Fang Heng spoke, he turned to Captain Gisele and said, "Captain Gisele, the mission is over. I suggest you retreat immediately. If you stay, you might attract unnecessary trouble."

"Understood. I’ll begin the transition right away," Captain Gisele nodded solemnly. "Thank you."

Vionne noticed Fang Heng leaving the group and walking off alone. He curled his lips in disdain.

"Tch, what’s he up to now... always playing games."

...

District 6 of the Star Eye positioning site.

Upon receiving word that the frontline battle had stabilized, the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe halted the operation of the Star Eye and set it to standby mode.

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe resumed regular surveillance of the prism device.

If the situation changed, they would immediately restart the positioning system for the next round of attacks.

On the outskirts, the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe’s guards noticed someone approaching and raised their alert.

"Mr. Fang Heng."

The Iron-Eater Tribe recognized Fang Heng and relaxed their guard.

Over the past few days, Fang Heng had excavated underground passages in several prism tower areas, enabling a continuous flow of building materials for the Star Eye through these tunnels.

Thanks to that, the Iron-Eater Tribe had completed the prism tower construction ahead of schedule.

Fang Heng walked toward the prism tower and asked, "Is everything still stable with the Star Eye’s prism tower?"

The leader of the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe nodded respectfully and replied, "Thanks to you, everything is very stable."

"Very good."

Fang Heng’s eyes swept over the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe around the prism tower.

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe had a natural talent for constructing alloy buildings.

Unfortunately...

They couldn’t be used for his purposes.

"I believe you all are aware of the current situation on the front lines. The insect nest has been dealt with, and the Star Eye no longer needs to operate."

The officer in charge of maintenance hurried over and spoke, "Mr. Fang Heng, our frontline command has ordered us to remain on standby."

"I don’t care who gave you the order. The Shadow Clan told me I’m free to leave now."

"Huh?"

The officer looked confused and blinked at Fang Heng, full of doubt.

Leaving? What did he mean?

If he wanted to leave, he could just go—why bother telling the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe?

Fang Heng looked up at the towering prism tower behind the officer and shrugged, saying, "Why are you just standing there? The positioning defense module prism tower was built with my materials. Now that I’m leaving, of course, I’m taking it with me. I’ll need your tribe’s help to dismantle it."

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe erupted into an uproar.

What?! Take it with him?

Was he serious?

Sure, most of the ore resources used in construction were supplied by humans, but the most valuable parts—the base and the main prism—were prepared in advance by the Shadow Clan and other races.

No one had ever made such a request before.

"Whoosh!"

Fang Heng tapped his foot and appeared in front of the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe officer, grabbing his throat and lifting him into the air.

"I’ll say it one more time. Dismantle the prism and load it onto my ship. You have ten minutes."

The officer begged repeatedly, "Please don’t kill me. At least let me report to the Shadow Clan first..."

Fang Heng raised the officer high and said coldly, "What, you think I’m lying to you?"

As he spoke, a dense swarm of Lickers surged out from the underground caverns and instantly surrounded the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe.

"Move quickly."

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe officer and the surrounding tribe members turned pale, speechless with fear.

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe wasn’t a strong fighting tribe. They knew they couldn’t win and didn’t dare fight back.

After a moment of hesitation, someone took the lead—soon the rest of the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe dropped to their knees and began pleading, kowtowing repeatedly.

"Mr. Fang Heng, if you take the prism, the Shadow Clan will surely come after us. We can’t afford the cost. Our entire tribe’s survival is in your hands. Please show mercy."

Fang Heng frowned. What were they implying?

They made it sound like he was some kind of villain.

Then again, the Iron-Eating Beast Tribe had always been cooperative and treated him decently.

With that in mind, Fang Heng flung the officer aside, "Fine, I’ll give you a way out. After delivering the prisms, come with me. I’ll offer your tribe protection."

What?

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe was stunned.

"I’ve given you a chance to live. Make your decision. If the prisms aren’t delivered within ten minutes, don’t blame me for what happens next."

The Iron-Eating Beast Tribe members looked at each other, then stopped hesitating and immediately began dismantling the Star Eye prism tower.

In fact, much of the prism system was modular by design. When built, it was meant to be disassembled if needed.

Dismantling 80% of the main structure took only three minutes.

The spawn faction’s transport robots quickly carried the large prism components through the underground passages and loaded them onto the main ship.
