Chapter 770

Bear-san, Listening Part 2

While watching the two of them engrossed in eating, I thought about what to do next.

A dragon, huh?

“Kagali-san, do you know anything about that dragon?” (Yuna)

“You think I know everything, don’t you?” (Kagali)

“I think you know more than I do at least.” (Yuna)

I thought Kagali-san, who had lived in this world for a long time, knew more than I, who came from another world. And even though she looked like a young girl, she had lived for hundreds of years.

“Well, from what I’ve heard, it’s probably an ice dragon.” (Kagali)

“Ice dragon?” (Yuna)

“Its skin is pale, and it freezes anything it touches. It’s a dangerous creature.” (Kagali)

“Have you ever seen one, Kagali-san?” (Yuna)

“No way. They say ice dragons live deep in the mountains, where no one lives. They usually never show themselves in human settlements.” (Kagali)

If there were ice dragons, did that mean there would be fire dragons and wind dragons as well, right?

Since I’d never seen a request to hunt such monsters, the encounter rate should be extremely low.

But how strong would one be if it was able to freeze a city all by itself?

Wait, it was only one, right?

“Just to confirm, there’s only one dragon, right?” (Yuna)

I asked what I was thinking.

“Eh, well… I’ve only seen one.” (Lize)

Lize-san swallowed the bread she had in her mouth and answered.

I was glad it was just one.

“So, why did you two come to town so early in the morning?” (Yuna)

Kagali-san and I were dreaming. If Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear hadn’t woken us up, we would have slept longer.

“That’s because we saw lights in the town last night.” (Lize)

“Lights?” (Yuna)

“It must be the light coming from Bear House.” (Kagali)

Yesterday, I turned on the lights and spoke with Kagali-san until late.

It appeared that they saw the light coming from the Bear House.

“So, we thought that there might be someone in the town, so we discussed it and decided that Father and I would go and check it out.” (Lize)

Then, while they were investigating the town, they found my Bear House in the middle of the road, and it seemed that they were looking around to see what to do.

“So, I don’t know if it’s okay to ask you this.” (Lize)

“If I can answer, I’ll answer.” (Yuna)

“Why is Yuna-san dressed as a bear?” (Lize)

“…” (Yuna)

“…” (Lize)

A moment of silence passed.

“That’s because she just likes bears.” (Kagali)

Kagali-san broke the awkward silence and answered.

“She likes bears?” (Lize)

“You can tell by looking at this house. And the bears she has with her.” (Kagali)

While saying this, Kagali-san looked at the house, then looked at Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.

“She even has a stuffed bear. She’s just a bear lover, so don’t ask too much.” (Kagali)

“Oh, I see. Sorry.” (Lize)

For some reason, Lize-san apologized.

“Also, I’ve never seen the type of clothes Kagali-san is wearing as well.” (Lize)

They did not know about Japanese clothes, probably because they had no connections with the Land of Wa.

Of course, there was a possibility that they had heard of the place, but they might simply not be engaged in trade with them.

Since it would be complicated if we told them, it was better to not answer properly.

“My clothes are from a faraway country, so please don’t worry about it.” (Kagali)

“Oh, I see. I understand.” (Lize)

While we were talking, Bollard-san and Lize-san finished eating.

“I still have something to ask, but you two, please take a bath.” (Yuna)

“A bath? Do I smell? I’m wiping myself with a towel.” (Lize)

Lize-san looked apologetic.

“No. I thought you probably haven’t been able to take a proper bath in this condition.” (Yuna)

When I prepared the tea, I also prepared the water for the bath.

By preparing I meant touching the magic stone to turn on the water.

The water should be full by now.

“Is it okay?” (Lize)

Lize-san looked at her father Bollard-san, wanting to go in.

“We are grateful to be able to use it. Lize, go ahead.” (Bollard)

Lize-san looked happy to hear that.

I led Lize-san to the bathroom.

“Feel free to use the towels and soap there.” (Yuna)

“Thank you.” (Lize)

“Then take your time in.” (Yuna)

I closed the door and went back to where Kagali-san was.

“Thank you for the bath. I’ve always given her a hard time, and I haven’t even been able to let her take a bath for a while now.” (Bollard)

“No, don’t worry about it.” (Yuna)

I think he’s had a hard time as a father.

A bath was no big deal.

“Now that I think about it, why did only you and your daughter come to town? There are six other people with you, right?” (Yuna)

“Aside from us, there was the old couple who managed the mine. The son and his wife came to visit them because it was their day off. And then the people in charge of the mine, but everyone except for us and the son and his wife are old.” (Bollard)

Since they could not force the elderly, then the only ones who could check the situation in town were the son and his wife or Bollard-san.

“Also, I’m the lord of this town. If there are people, I’m in a position to negotiate. Lize came with me because she was worried about me.” (Bollard)

She was a girl who cared about her father.

“So when you came here, you found the Bear House.” (Yuna)

“Ah, yes.” (Bollard)

And that brought us to where we met.

“Has anyone ever come to the town before?” (Yuna)

“A ship that trades with this town came once. When I heard that the ship had come, I immediately went down to the town and headed for the shipyard. However, the dragon came down to the town again at that time. After seeing the frozen town and the dragon, the people on the ship immediately fled, fearing the dragon. For a while after that, ships came several times, but after a few months they stopped coming, and I haven’t seen any ships since.” (Bollard)

“They’ve abandoned this place.” (Yuna)

“…” (Bollard)

You could see this place from the sea with a telescope.

From there, they could confirm the frozen town, and even the dragon. In the end, they concluded that there were no living people in the town. Thus, trade was abandoned.

“They probably thought that there was no one left alive. It can’t be helped.” (Bollard)

“You should have sent out a smoke signal or something and asked for help.” (Yuna)

“We thought about that, but at the time we were afraid of being noticed by the dragon, and while we were worrying about what to do next, the ships stopped coming.” (Bollard)

There was also a possibility that the dragon would react to the smoke signal after all.

Bollard-san and the others, who had no way to fight or escape, probably wanted to avoid anything that might be dangerous.

After a moment of silence, the door to the bathroom opened and Lize-san came out.

“Thank you for the bath.” (Lize)

Her hair was long and beautifully straight.

However, her clothes were still dirty.

“Father, you go as well. It felt wonderful.” (Lize)

“I see. Then I’ll go as well.” (Bollard)

Bollard-san headed towards the bathroom, passing Lize-san.

“Lize-san, where did you get clothes?” (Yuna)

“I’m wearing clothes that were left behind in the mine. They were dirty because they were worn by the miners, but I had no choice but to wear them to survive.” (Lize)

So, that’s why they didn’t fit her. She was wearing clothes that were too big for her.

“I didn’t like it at the time, and I caused Father a lot of trouble. I’m a bad kid.” (Lize)

Three years ago, she would be a girl around 12 years old, and would have been reluctant to wear the clothes of a man who worked in the mines. Especially since she was the lord’s daughter. I could only imagine her wanting to wear nice clothes back then.

“Kagali-san, can you look after Lize-san for a bit?” (Yuna)

“Are you going somewhere?” (Kagali)

I whispered to Kagali-san.

“I’ll prepare some clothes for Lize-san.” (Yuna)

Kagali-san took a look at Lize-san and immediately understood.

“Come back soon.” (Yuna)

“Okay.” (Yuna)

I used the Bear Transfer Gate in the warehouse to travel to Crimonia.

As I headed towards the clothing store, I heard my name being called.

“Yuna Onee-chan!” (Fina)

I looked in the direction of the voice and saw Fina. Fina then came running up to me.

“Yuna Onee-chan, where are you going?” (Fina)

“I’m going to buy some winter clothes.” (Yuna)

“Winter clothes? Are you going somewhere cold?” (Fina)

As we walked, I explained what happened to Fina.

When I went to Targui with Kagali-san, I found land.

It was cold there, and there was a girl who needed winter clothes.

“Is that so? In that case, I know a good store.”

I headed to the store with Fina’s guidance.

“Well then, I still have to buy something my mom asked me to buy, see you again Yuna Onee-chan.” (Fina)

“Thank you.” (Yuna)

Fina waved her hand and left.

I went inside the store and called out to the male clerk.

“Excuse me. Can I have some cute winter clothes for girls around 15 years old?” (Yuna)

“Yes? Huh? Bear girl?” (Clerk)

The clerk reacted when he saw me.

It seemed like he knew me.

But I didn’t know the clerk.

This might be what it felt like to be a celebrity.

“Do you have any cute winter clothes for girls?” (Yuna)

I asked again.

“Are you the one who is going to wear them?” (Shop Owner)

“Not me, but for a girl around my age.” (Yuna)

I told him that she was a little taller than me.

The clerk showed me a few winter clothes.

I also found a beautiful white winter dress, so I chose that one along with some other.

She might feel troubled if I gave her something flashy.

Then I bought scarfs to wear around the neck.

I think this should be fine.

I thanked him and left the store.

Next, I returned to Bear House and used the Bear Transfer Gate to return to the frozen town.

“Finally, back already?” (Kagali)

Kagali-san looked at me and was relieved.

I came back in about 30 minutes, but it appeared that I made her worried.

Bollard-san had just come out of the bath and was sitting in a chair.

“Yuna-san, where were you?” (Lize)

“Sorry, I was just looking for things in my wardrobe.” (Yuna)

I couldn’t tell her that I bought this from Crimonia, so I made the excuse of looking for it in my wardrobe.

I placed the winter clothes I bought earlier on the table.

“This is…” (Lize)

“You can wear it if you like.” (Yuna)

“Is it okay?” (Lize)

“I don’t need to wear these because my Bear clothes keep me warm, so I’d be happy if you wear them instead.” (Yuna)

I went to the trouble of buying them, you know.

“Thank you.” (Lize)

Lize-san happily took the winter clothes in her hands.

“You can change in the bathroom.”

Lize-san went back to the bathroom, got changed, and came back.

Alright, it suited her.

White winter clothes and pants. As well as a yellow scarf around her neck.

“It’s warm.” (Lize)

Lize-san looked happy.

I was glad I bought it for her.
