Lackey's Seducing Survival Odyssey
Chapter 1048 - 1048: Aether didn’t need to be called A God... BecauseAether sure was surprised—no, utterly taken aback—by the words of Log… Last night, it was all just to provoke the Mother… Just to tick her off.
That was it.
He never had any intention of becoming a god, or anything remotely divine.
But seeing Sera’s eyes now—those bright, sparkling eyes shimmering even more than usual—as if she were staring at some sacred deity, made Aether feel a strange knot in his chest.
Inwardly, he wasn’t sure anymore… Where the hell was his life going now?
Sera too… Last night, she honestly thought Aether was just being sinful and naughty, trying to tease her into a horny frenzy, furious about her kneeling to the statue of the God. That’s why he had interrupted her, demanding she kneel only for him…
And yes, in the heat of the moment, she’d agreed without thinking—but Sera was a woman of her word. She always kept her promises. Yet now… after seeing that Log… everything made perfect, terrifying, and beautiful sense.
He was a fucking living GOD!!!
Her eyes glittered, part joy and part stunned reverence. She wanted—no, she needed—to share this divine revelation with everyone across the Empire. They would rejoice, scream, and worship. Their people were about to witness something unimaginable:
A living, breathing God among them!!!
“Stand up, Sera,” he murmured softly, his voice laced with unease and awkward care. He couldn’t possibly let her kneel like this… to him… as if he were some divine being to be prayed to.
Sera blinked, lowering her head, her voice trembling with devotion, “But, My Lord, I cou—”
“Sit on my lap. Or I swear, I’ll leave this place,” Aether interrupted, his tone laced with impatience but not without warmth. And in a heartbeat, Sera was already on his lap, clinging to him as though he was her entire universe.
She wouldn’t let him escape… Not now… Not ever!!
Aether chuckled under his breath before wrapping his arms around her, holding her close, “Let’s just forget about all this god nonsense, alright? Me being divine or whatever…”
“B-But… the flames you held—”
“Come on, Sera. You know me, right? I’m not a god. The flames… yeah, I have them. But I couldn’t even use them without that insane backlash… like yesterday. You saw it. You want me to burn myself like that again?”
“Of course not!” Sera’s whole body trembled. The thought of him suffering like that again made her stomach twist. She bit her lower lip, her fingers gripping his shoulders tightly. Still, disbelief lingered in her heart. “But… Go—”
“Sera.” Aether suddenly turned serious, his expression blank yet heavy.
Sera stared at him in silence for a long breath before sighing deeply. “Fine, fine… Aether,” she finally muttered with a gentle smile, hugging him tighter, her embrace possessive and warm. “So… my husband is a God, then…”
Aether smirked, “Husband? Oh… I don’t mind that at all…” He flashed a cheeky, playful grin. Sera giggled quietly at his expression, her heart thudding with affection.
“Once the world finds out who you really are… this is going t—”
“Please don’t.” Aether shook his head immediately, his tone dropping with sudden weight. He wasn’t ready… like whatever he was doing now… was definitely not a good thing!
He didn’t want that kind of burden—not yet. Even if it could expand his Ethereal domain… he needed to think.
To act.
To be sure.
Sera blinked again, her expression concerned, “Are you really sure about this?”
Aether nodded with certainty.
“You do know that… you can literally control this Empire and… every woman would love to be with you!” She said with a serious face.
“….” Aether blinked… he was definitely not going to waver by her words… definitely not those last words that she said with a deadly tone!
Sera’s lips curved into a soft, almost sacred smile, “So… only I know you’re a God,” she whispered, her voice full of wonder and pride.
Aether offered an awkward nod, “I’m not even sure about the God part… Anyway, how do you even know what I have is actually the Flames wielded by the gods?”
Sera’s face turned solemn, full of seriousness and quiet reverence, “Mother… when she taught me, she passed down ancient knowledge. She told me of the sacred flames—those wielded only by the divine. There were many types, each belonging to a different god, but among them was the most powerful… the Sacred Flame of Ethereal. It can only be awakened by one who has reached the highest purity, whose soul is filled with genuine love and devotion from their people. Without that love… It’s impossible to even touch it.”
Aether let her words sink in slowly. “I see…” he said thoughtfully, but inwardly, ‘The flames… taught by Mother? Could she really have passed down something this powerful? This sacred? Something feels… fishy,’ he thought with a quiet frown.
Sera added softly, “You know… even Mother herself couldn’t reach that kind of divine purity.”
“…She told you that?” Aether blinked, utterly surprised again!
Sera nodded, her gaze unwavering.
Aether’s face twisted into something unreadable, a mixture of irritation and disbelief. ‘Ah fuck it, man… This is getting annoying now,’ he thought, shaking his head internally.
But Sera, resting in his lap, stared up at him with quiet devotion, her heart thundering. Inwardly, she screamed with overwhelming joy and madness, ‘My God… My God… OH MY GOD!!!’
Aether shrugged, his voice low and gentle, “Anyway… please don’t tell anyone. And… don’t look at me like I’m some God, alright?” He leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers in a tender, grounding kiss. “I’m your husband… okay? Just your husband.”
Sera nodded, her heart swelling as a radiant, overjoyed smile took over her face.
The God… was her husband?
What more could she possibly ask for?
She didn’t need anything else in this world anymore.
She had it all.
She had achieved something beyond desire…
She had attained enlightenment.
Aether smiled softly, watching her expression with quiet amusement. “Hmm… You told me this place was once called Umbra Sanctum, right?”
Sera snapped out of her swirling thoughts and nodded, her tone respectful, “Yes. In ancient times… this place was known as the Umbra Sanctum. A sacred land where individuality, race, and status didn’t matter. Anyone could take refuge here, and the Sanctum would accept and protect them.”
Aether took a moment, absorbing her words, before glancing at her with purpose in his eyes. “Can you… Do something for me?” he asked, and with a snap of his fingers, a portal shimmered into existence beside him.
From the glowing opening came a soft hiss—”Hisss~”—and a small, adorably drowsy white snake emerged, yawning cutely. Snowflake blinked her sleepy eyes, and upon spotting Sera, she immediately slithered over and leapt gently toward her.
“Oh? You’ve been here too, little girl?” Sera asked in a delighted tone as she lovingly stroked the snake’s soft, white-scaled body.
Snowflake purred against her hand, then licked Sera’s fingers with a little grin, “Tasty~” she muttered with sleepy satisfaction.
Sera’s lips twitched at the familiar mischief. She gave a small sigh, shaking her head as she muttered, “You still haven’t forgotten my taste, have you…”
She turned her gaze toward Aether, who silently pointed toward the portal. His meaning was clear.
Sera tilted her head slightly in question, but then nodded. Aether gently took Snowflake back in his arms, while Sera stepped toward the glowing portal. The small white oval shimmered, then elongated and stretched into a larger oval—just tall enough for her to step through.
With slow steps, Sera entered the portal.
Sssshhhh~
Mist swirled around her, cool and soft, wrapping her in a veil of mystery before slowly parting to reveal the sight on the other side…
A grassy land stretched endlessly in every direction, lush and serene. The air was fresh, the sky above a radiant blue like a perfect summer day, filled with light and warmth.
A gentle breeze played around her, brushing against her skin. It felt peaceful. Alive. Like the wind itself was breathing, conscious of her presence.
Sera blinked, astonished, “What in the…” she gasped softly, utterly taken aback.
Her eyes shifted to the side, and she froze.
There it stood—a colossal white marble structure, so grand and majestic it made her temple look like a mere ornament. It was nearly ten times larger than her entire Main temple, and easily five times the size of the Empire’s academy. Towering, divine, and blindingly white. At the very top, a giant golden bell shimmered under the light, radiant like the sun had blessed it personally.
The walls were engraved with divine patterns—ancient symbols spiralling in seamless harmony, pulsing faintly with a warm light, almost as if the stone remembered prayers from forgotten centuries. Massive crystal windows, so clear they looked like flowing water, were embedded between tall columns that reached into the heavens. Vines of silver and gold ran up the edges of the structure, glimmering like veins of the gods themselves.[Imgincmt]
It didn’t just look sacred—it felt sacred.
“Holy… sh…it…” she muttered breathlessly, her voice laced with disbelief and awe.
Her face shifted from mere surprise to full-blown reverence as she slowly stepped closer to the building. There were no gates, no doors. Just wide, open space—as if it welcomed all beings, without restriction.
As if judgment didn’t exist here.
Only peace.
She entered the building with cautious wonder.
And then it hit her.
A wave of calm, of strange sacredness, washed over her entire body. As if something gentle and warm was seeping into her very veins. Her heartbeat slowed. Her limbs softened. She felt weightless.
Sleepy. Serene. Safe.
As though this place was meant to cradle souls… and she wouldn’t mind falling asleep right here, in this divine calm, forever.
The interior was even more magnificent. The floors were smooth white stone, almost glowing from within, casting a soft halo around her feet with every step. Delicate fountains flowed along the sides, their water a soft blue-white light, making soft, melodic trickles that sounded like lullabies whispered by angels.
Massive archways curved elegantly overhead, with murals painted in hues no mortal hand could ever replicate—stories of forgotten gods, divine battles, celestial love, and sacred creation. Everything felt alive. The paintings didn’t just depict—they remembered.
At the centre of the sanctum, a massive circular platform rose slightly from the ground, its edges inscribed with glowing runes…. And above it, floating silently, was a single feather—long, golden, and softly pulsing as if it were still attached to a living, breathing divine being.
Sera’s throat tightened.
She had entered a sanctuary beyond time.
She could hear it… Their voices, Their Prayers, Their Love, Their Hope… Their God.
The golden feather… emitting all of them!!
This wasn’t just a place to worship gods… this place was one.
Her knees wobbled as tears welled up in her eyes. Her hands clasped together without her realizing, and she dropped to her knees instinctively. [Imgincmt]
Not in fear.
Not even in worship.
But in pure devotion.
‘This place… it knows him…’ she thought with trembling lips.
And in that quiet moment of divinity, as the light embraced her and the silence comforted her, Sera understood something unspoken—Aether didn’t need to be called A God.
Because in this place, in the eyes of this sanctum…
He already was.
