The entity that once devoured him—the Siming that rewrote his past—turned out to be nothing more than a mere fragment fallen from Fu Shengtian.
A deep despair surged within Li Huowang as he grasped this harsh reality. Against such an incomprehensibly powerful force, what could his efforts as a Siming ever hope to achieve?
Li Huowang recalled the words and expressions of Qing Wanglai, who had once shared similar thoughts. Only now did he truly understand the hopelessness that had consumed Qing Wanglai. They had never stood a chance against Fu Shengtian.
What should I do? Li Huowang’s sluggish mind grappled with this question.
His despair turned into an intense urge for self-destruction, starting to surface in his mind. His expression twisted as though his very flesh was compelling him to surrender to the feeling. Even as a Strayed One, he found himself powerless to resist.
Just then, in the corner of his vision, he noticed the Heavenly Mater standing before him, her countless interlocking eyes revealing an unreadable emotion.
She was unaffected by the secrets of the Three Pure Ones and remained oblivious to Fu Shengtian’s presence behind her, so she could still move.
The Heavenly Mater stirred. Her form twisted, and she extended her feathered sleeves toward Ji Zai’s mind.
Drawing out her sleeves also removed Li Huowang’s desire for death. His muddled thoughts cleared a little.
However, he still couldn’t move. His attempts to act were in vain, as the aura emitted by the Fu Shengtian still held him in place. No! I must move! I can’t just sit here! He gritted his teeth, opened his mouth, and bit down hard.
The agony of biting his tongue into a pulp temporarily freed him.
He realized that escape was futile in this situation, so he resolved to face the threat head-on.
He reached into his chest with one hand, grabbing a secret from the Three Pure Ones. His other hand plunged into his skull, extracting a cluster of memories.
As he held these two items in his hands, the surrounding liquid withdrew rapidly and turned back into its dull, dark, iridescent hue.
Li Huowang immediately sought out Qing Wanglai when he regained his freedom, but he was gone again.
Qing Wawnglai was clearly plotting something. Everything had been premeditated.
He was exploiting the threat from Fu Shengtian to achieve his own goals.
A wave of fear flashed through Li Huowang’s mind as he thought of Fu Shengtian. He glanced into the dark liquid around him, feeling a surge of terror.
He couldn’t recall the exact reason for his fear, but his trembling body instinctively urged him to flee from this place.
Ripples in the dark fluid suggested that the other Simings were in battle with the Simings of Fu Shengtian nearby. They were seemingly unaware of the actual danger.
Li Huowang knew he had to escape now to figure out the Three Pure Ones’ intentions.
“Go! Run! Don’t worry about them, just run!”
Li Huowang’s voice echoed in the liquid as he thrashed, desperately swimming towards the Baiyu Capital’s exit.
The two objects he held made swimming difficult. He nearly tossed them aside but paused, deciding to stuff them in his clothes instead.
When he reached the entrance, he looked at the enlarged opening and felt his anxiety rising. His current Dragon Qi was insufficient to mend it. He would need more from below. ℟άꞐоβЕꞨ
Suddenly, he had an idea. He bent down, picked up a broken mirror, and shouted with all his might at his exhausted reflection, “Hurry, Li Huowang! The Baiyu Capital needs Dragon Qi. The more, the better! If we don’t seal this, the entire sky will leak!”
A few dragon roars echoed from below.
Looking down, he noticed Gao Zhijian leading four Dragon Veins and two golden dragons from the Tianchen Kingdom upwards. “Senior Li, where are you? Senior Li, where are you? The Dragon Qi is here!”
Li Huowang breathed a sigh of relief. He was Ji Zai now and could call for reinforcements through the future Li Huowang.
He grabbed the two Dragon Veins and started stitching them into the rift’s edge.
The Dragon Veins resembled needles, with Dragon Qi flowing from them like threads.
He was forced to stop before he mended for long, as the other Simings were still fighting inside.
If he sealed the rift before they returned, the Baiyu Capital would be doomed. Despite this, the widening rift prevented him from leaving it open.
Li Huowang clenched his teeth. He grabbed the Dragon Veins and prepared to dive back into the dark waters to rescue the others.
He knew that attempting to go in alone would be pointless, as he would only end up trapped like them. He paused, grappling with the difficulty of making a choice. His left hand weighed down on him, as if it were burdened with a thousand pounds.
Seeing the fierce waves within the dark waters, he gritted his teeth and held up the mirror shard again.
He spoke to his reflection with reddened eyes. “We need reinforcements! Call everyone who can help to the Baiyu Capital!”
The mirror shattered, and red streaks suddenly appeared below the Baiyu Capital, surging upwards. A familiar roar echoed from a distance.
It was two Jiang Xiangshous.
He examined them closely and realized these figures were not advancing of their own will. Something was pulling them up.
Bai Lingmiao had both her bodies half-transformed into dragons. She sat cross-legged on a white lotus sky lantern while holding onto the Twelve Merit Jade Lotus. Six White Donkeys accompanied her, and they all rose towards him.
Li Huowang grabbed the Dragon Veins with one hand and dove down. He collided head-on with one of the Jiang Xiangshous. In that instant, all fear vanished, replaced by an intense killing intent.
As he reached out for the other Jiang Xiangshou, a misty figure erupted from the water-filled deep pit. It was the Heavenly Mater.
She was upside down, and with incredible speed, she zipped toward Bai Lingmiao, the sky lantern, and her six White Donkeys.
The white lotus marks on the foreheads of Bai Lingmiao and the White Donkeys began shining intensely. A mysterious force seemed to beckon them.
The six White Donkeys on the sky lantern were elated. They spoke in unison with Bai Lingmiao amidst their center, saying, “Heaven and Earth darken, sun and moon lose light. Red Yang declines; White Yang rises. The great tribulation is upon us. The White Lotus shall be reborn.”
