That explosive attack was incomparably sharp. The wooden shields remained in place, but now a perfect line of holes ran through them.
Liu Chi’s upper body had completely vanished.
The sight left everyone stunned.
Huai Yushan was equally shaken. When Liu Chi unleashed his power, she had estimated that he was at least on par with her—at most, she might have been the slightest bit stronger.
Yet, even after summoning his strongest defense, he had been defeated in a single move. Aguta’s strength was simply overwhelming.
A chill settled over Huai Yushan’s heart. If Aguta was this terrifying, then the white-haired man standing beside him was likely just as formidable. If she lost…
Huai Yushan was not afraid of death, but she couldn’t lose this fight.
Her opponent was just too strong, and there was no way she could win. As a result, she started to panic.
“Don’t worry, I’m here. In a bit, here’s what you’ll do against that white-haired fellow…” transmitted Long Chen.
At that moment, the martial stage trembled. The wooden shields vanished, and Liu Chi’s body rapidly regenerated.Had he been human, he would have undoubtedly perished. But for the Undying race, instantaneous death was nearly impossible. They possessed immense lifeforce and almost no fatal weaknesses. Unless their life force was completely drained, killing them was incredibly difficult.
However, once Liu Chi’s body recovered, his aura had dropped a level. That signified how damaging Aguta’s attack had been.
Liu Chi’s expression darkened. His eyes, sharp as blades, glinted with an unyielding light. Slowly, he formed hand seals, igniting the flames of his lifeforce. After that, the entire stage started to twist.
Although it seemed that Liu Chi had been careless earlier, even if he had been on high alert, he might not have been able to block Aguta’s attack.
Aguta had used his armor set to instantly push the power of his thirteen heaven veins to their peak. This kind of explosive surge was something the Undying race inherently lacked.
The Undying race’s power was as vast as the sea. But its weakness lay in the time required to unleash it. The more power they possessed, the longer it took to mobilize, much like boiling water—the greater the volume, the longer the wait.
That was why the Undying race’s combat skills always focused on prolonged battles. Immediate power bursts, especially at the start of a fight, were simply not in their nature.
The earth quivered as Liu Chi’s power rapidly surged. By burning his own lifeforce, he was tapping into even greater strength.
“You don’t admit defeat? Then my next attack will take your life!” chuckled Aguta.
Seeing that Liu Chi was still intent on fighting, Aguta smiled sinisterly. He slowly raised his vajra scepter.
Just then, Liu Ruyan’s voice rang out. “Liu Chi admits defeat!”
“Fairy Ruyan?” Liu Chi paused, feeling extremely unwilling.
“Retreat. You can’t win. Don’t sacrifice yourself for nothing!” said Liu Ruyan.
Hearing this, Liu Chi gritted his teeth. Although he was extremely unwilling, he still obeyed Liu Ruyan’s orders. With a quivering body, he vanished from the stage.
Aguta was disappointed to see him go. Had Liu Chi not retreated, Aguta could have killed him with his next attack.
Turning to the Undying Willow race’s experts, Aguta smirked and dragged his thumb across his throat in a provocative gesture. Then, he pointed his thumb downward, gazing at them with disdain.
“Courting death!”
The Undying race’s experts were all enraged, but no matter what, they had lost this bout.
Suddenly, Huai Yushan appeared on the stage and looked at Aguta coldly.
She said, “Your Luo Yin had the piss beaten out of him by Fairy Ruyan. He barely clung to life, yet did Fairy Ruyan mock you like this? But the moment you win a single match, you act so arrogant. You’re nothing but a bunch of shameless cowards.”
Aguta’s face twisted in fury, but before he could retort, the white-haired man stepped forward.
The white-haired man said, “Power King Aguta, quell your rage. Leave this woman to me. I will definitely satisfy you.”
The Undying race’s experts exchanged puzzled glances. The white-haired man’s deferential tone toward Aguta was unexpected. Wasn’t he supposed to be the strongest of the three?
“I want to hear her screams,” Aguta snorted, turning away.
“As you wish.” The white-haired man smiled. Only then did Aguta step back.
With the battlefield restored, the white-haired man faced Huai Yushan, his expression indifferent.
He said, “Today, you brainless fools will taste defeat. When that happens, I wonder—will the Undying Willow race finally break its so-called reputation for keeping its word?”
Huai Yushan simply clasped her hands behind her back. The Undying race’s experts, standing behind her, noticed a faint divine glow flickering at her right fingertips.
However, this light was extremely subdued, and only the Undying race’s experts could sense it. No one on the other side noticed it.
Huai Yushan sneered, “Fairy Ruyan herself said that in the face of absolute power, all schemes are meaningless. You deliberately threw the first match to concentrate your strength for the second and third. You claim you wish to challenge Sovereign sprouts, but in truth, you were merely probing the Undying race—to see if any other Sovereign sprouts existed beyond Fairy Ruyan.
“In reality, Aguta is the strongest of the three of you. Your original plan hinged on forcing the Undying race to send out their second Sovereign sprout for the second battle. That made Aguta’s victory crucial. Now that he has won, you think it’s over? Youngsters, you guys are too naive!”
Her words sent a ripple of unease through the Undying race’s experts. Since when had the Devil Eye Water Lily race become so adept at scheming? Were they still even part of the tree demon lineage?
The white-haired man’s heart shook as well, but he didn’t react too much. Even if their plans had been seen through, so what? It was already over.
“Naive? You are the naive one. Do you think you have a chance at winning?” asked the white-haired man with a smile.
“Winning? No, my goal isn’t winning,” Huai Yushan replied, shaking her head.
“Then what is your goal?” The white-haired man was baffled.
Huai Yushan suddenly grinned, her expression twisting into something sinister.
“To kill you, of course.”
With those words, her smile darkened into something terrifying.
In an instant, five black bolts of lightning erupted from her hidden right hand. A spectral claw tore through space, lunging straight for the white-haired man’s throat.
