"Seven! If you have something up your sleeve, it is best that you do something about it now! I will assist in ten seconds!" No.2 said as he knew that the magic circles were merely just ahead and it was now or never for them. The Shadow Chimera was right at the heels of the last War Boar with its teeth baring right at it, waiting just to consume it as long as the Chimera was in range.
Yet, the War Boar rear guard did not panic.
It continued to keep its cool because the War Boar veterans had been through dozens or maybe even hundreds worth of battles they knew the consequences of leaving the Herd's rear equated to panic for the entire herd. Right now, this particular rear guard was the one who was keeping everyone within the herd to be sane and composed in this maniacal situation they were in.
If panic ensued, the herd would definitely scatter and the Shadow Chimera would have completed its objective. After which, they too would split themselves into the various Shadow Predators they had always been so that they could consume each and every War Boar to their delight.
When this happens, even the humans would not be able to do anything about it and the hunters would definitely lose their Herd before they can reach the forest clearing. "Yea, yea! Can you stop complaining when I am already handling these stupid snake heads that are coming for the butts of these War Boars?! Besides, you did not tell me what is your plan.
How would I know what to follow?!" Two complained but that complaining did not stop time or buy more time for her. No. 2 was still going to the allocated trap and he had prepared something big.

Now that he knew that light magic could win against the Shadow Predators, he believed that this particular 'pitstop' that he had directed the War Boar Herd to go through would definitely be the solution if No. 2 could pull through along with him.
"3, 2, 1!" No.2 yelled and simultaneously sent an enormous burst of mana through his surroundings which startled the War Boars for a moment. However, because they had been familiar with his magic signature and No.2, the War Boars believed this was the moment they were waiting for. That turn of the tide that they desperately needed to get out of this cruel run or kill predicament.
The surrounding magic stickers lit up like accessories on Christmas trees which gave a smile to both Commando Mages when they saw that their efforts were not naught to bring the War Boar Herd through here.Extremely bright sources of light lit up the entire forest which scared and scarred the Shadow Predators, causing them to screech in horror while phantom hands manifested with light magic were seen grabbing the Shadow Chimera, negating their physical tolerance and taking advantage of the weakness they had.
No. 7 finally saw how his plan unfoiled as the light magic shone out from every single damn tree. She initially thought this would be a double edge sword since the source of light would be shining at every god damn thing in the area but No.2 had already planned for this trap in advance.
He had already prepared the very same phantom hands with the power of darkness to cover No.2 and the War Boar Herd going through the area.
Those phantom hands acted like a pair of sunglasses that prevented the blinding light from piercing their eyesight, enabling the group to move. In addition, No.2 had also prepared for the fact that the younger portions of the herd would not be stunned or surprised by this new development in their chase.
Those Shade Hands not only have the feature of keeping the eyes closed but also assist in attaching the younglings to their mothers or the nearest available Adult War Boar.
As this chase already stressed the group, they knew that it was a matter of time the younglings could not take it too. And this blinding light trap would definitely be the straw that breaks the figurative back of these War Boar younglings.
Thankfully, everything that No.2 had prepared, proceeded with ease allowing No.7 to finally finish the task of protecting the War Boar Herd from the threat of the Shadow Chimera. On a side note, she was also happy that the Shadow Predators had fused all into one, giving her the chance to kill them off in one go.
The blinding light and magical hands had given her the chance to halt all of those snake heads with her first Wand Rifle. The moment she released the trigger, she had already reached out for the second Wand Rifle which did not have any casting or reloading at all because No.7 was prepared for it.
All she needed was a quick look at the enemy through the iron sights of the Wand Rifle so that No.7 was able to make the minute adjustments for the shot. Without even thinking, her finger pushed down the trigger button when she had zeroed her sight in.
A huge beam of light energy instantly blocked her entire field of view. Despite the intense drawback it was producing, No.7 continued to hold it steady knowing that any deviance in the angle of the shot might result in a near miss, losing the advantage they had been trying to build up throughout this particular hunt.
Thankfully, she sat at the second back row of the herd formation as most at the front were squealing, wondering if the sudden big magical energy was going to kill them or not. The War Boar Veterans, however, continued to grunt loudly to keep the herd's morale steady as they moved through the forest at a slower pace.
Even the War Boar which No.7 was sitting on, had been sweating profusely whether it was doing a good job being a supporting ride for her. The Commando Mage's energy beam ultimately caused the whole forest to burn in a flash. The Shadow Chimera who initially thought to be able to resist No.7's attack and retaliate after that was not even given a chance.
As the energy beam burned and charred its entire path, the Shadow Chimera was nowhere to be seen as well.
Upon feeling the sense of threat disappearing behind them, most of the War Boars within the herd eventually turned their head to see the aftermath to see a portion of the forest disappear. Even No.7 did not dare to put the Wand Rifle down on the War Boar's back as it was still hot despite the shot having already been released.
The heat was consistently dissipating through the Wand Rifle but the wooden handle portion of the rifle was still capable of withstanding that kind of temperature.
Thus, No.7 utilised her telekinesis to perform her bolt action reload, refusing to even attempt to touch the handle in case she got scalded by it. At the same time, she and No.2 were scanning around the forest once more for any possible danger before they continued to head the War Boar Herd to the Lord's Manor.
At that point, they already developed some sort of link among the herd but once they reached the Manor of Vishnu, the two hunters had to be ready to cut their ties from the Herd they desperately tried to save.
