Qin Xue came over carrying the things she had bought, looking for An Hao and the others. As soon as she arrived, she saw two women holding two children, chattering away. She didn’t know what they were talking about, but Qin Xue realized that everyone seemed to enjoy talking to her children. Chu Molin did that, and now An Hao and Chu Xiaoqiao were also doing the same. She wondered if her children were even old enough to understand.
“Qin Xue, you’ve finished shopping. Let’s go,” An Hao said when she saw Qin Xue coming over.
“Okay, is it far? If it’s far, let’s call a car,” Qin Xue said, looking at the considerable amount of stuff she was holding.
“Not very far, we can walk,” An Hao replied, not feeling the need to take a car.
“But with all this stuff and the kids, isn’t that a little inconvenient?” Qin Xue looked incredulously at An Hao, who insisted they didn’t need a car.
“I’ll carry the child, you just carry the things. That’s what you get for buying so much,” An Hao said, surprised that Qin Xue also bought fruit in addition to alcohol and tea. Did Qin Xue really plan to spend all her money on these things just to visit her?
Of course, Qin Xue wouldn’t spend all her money on these things; she had children to raise. The money she spent today actually came from Chu Molin extorting it from one of his classmates, so she hadn’t touched her own money.
An Hao didn’t know this, though, and she thought Qin Xue was spending all her own money on these things.
It wasn’t An Hao’s fault for thinking that way. She knew that Qin Xue was working hard to make money, and she assumed Qin Xue was struggling. That’s why An Hao told her there was no rush to transfer the house ownership. But Qin Xue insisted on doing that, and An Hao just figured it was her pride. Little did she know that they had completely different interpretations of the situation.
So, now when Qin Xue suggested taking a car, An Hao thought she was just pretending to be capable despite being short on money. If she offered to pay, she was afraid Qin Xue wouldn’t accept it. Walking seemed to be the better option.
“Alright then, let me know if it’s too much for you to handle. Don’t tire yourself out,” Qin Xue said, looking at An Hao’s enlarged belly.
“Don’t worry, I won’t,” An Hao assured her, not feeling worn out at all. After all, the children weren’t that heavy.
What An Hao didn’t know was that while the children themselves weren’t heavy, carrying them for a long time was quite tiring.
Chu Xiaoqiao’s eyes lit up when she overheard Qin Xue suggesting a car, but before she could get her hopes up, An Hao shot it down. She couldn’t believe how unlucky she was.
However, she decided to keep quiet since she was outnumbered. Besides, An Hao was the one with the big belly, and if she could walk, there was no reason why Xiaoqiao couldn’t.
“An Hao, didn’t you say it was close? We’ve been walking for so long and we still haven’t arrived,” Qin Xue complained, thinking that when An Hao said it was close, she really meant it. But they had been walking for nearly fifteen minutes and still hadn’t reached the housing complex. At this rate, she would definitely need to find a car to take her back, as she wouldn’t be able to carry both children on her own.
Qin Xue never considered asking anyone in the housing complex for a ride because everyone living there had a car. Perhaps her unwillingness to inconvenience others was one of the reasons people found her so appealing.
“It’s really close! We just need to turn this corner. Look, do you see that gate? That’s it,” An Hao pointed out a nearby gate with the words “Imperial Capital XX Housing Complex” written on it to Qin Xue.
Following An Hao’s finger, Qin Xue looked over and felt a deep respect for the people who silently guarded the nation’s security from behind the scenes.
“This is truly the Imperial Capital. It’s so much grander than the one in S Province,” Qin Xue commented after they entered the complex.
“Maybe it’s because most of the residents here are founding leaders of the nation, and this place provides them with a quiet and stable environment for their later years,” An Hao said, knowing that all the older leaders living in the complex had significant achievements to their names.
