Chapter 1213. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle, the Final Story (6)

Chapter 1213. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle, the Final Story (6)

At this point, I thought playing uplifting music in the background would be nice because the atmosphere was building up. I wanted it to feel like the heroes, looking for a chance to turn the tide, were landing powerful attacks on the elites of the Demon King’s Castle.

"Melody of Courage!"

‘Come to think of it, we have a musician.’

I saw Woo Hyo-Yeol smiling slyly, and one corner of his lips was pulled up so far that I thought his mouth was torn open. I saw him tightening his fist. Others wouldn’t understand what he was doing, but I could tell that he was extremely happy.

I wasn’t used to him being worried about me, but the times we spent together had to have been pretty impactful on him.

"Ha... ha... haha."

His grin was so wide that I thought he would end up laughing. The time we had spent together was relatively short, but I felt gratified for raising him with so much care.

He got up and—

"Die," he said and stomped forward..

“If there’s something wrong with your vision, close one of your eyes. I’ll be your eyes,” I offered.

"Idiot. Who do you think I am? A punk like her? I can deal with her with my eyes closed."

“So arrogant...” I mumbled.

"Hmph. We’ll see whether I’m being arrogant or not."

Of course, he was being arrogant. However, he had to have thought that closing his eyes mid-fight was too much, as his gaze was transfixed on Kim Ye-Ri’s feet. The sight was more than enough to say that he was impressive because he was basically reacting to his opponent’s attacks with just his instincts.

"You’re an idiot! A fool!"

Woo Hyo-Yeol stretched out both his hands and deflected Kim Ye-Ri's daggers.

"How... did you do that?"

"Hmph."

"How did you know? Answer my question, mortal. If you give me a satisfactory answer, I’ll gladly make you my servant and let you drown in pleasure."

"I’m not exactly happy about that offer."

"How dare you!"

"I’ll tell you if you’re really curious."

"..."

"It’s talent."

As much as I hated to admit it, Woo Hyo-Yeol’s words were true. Talent was the only answer to that question. Out of all the powerful people I had met so far, there were only a handful capable of doing what he just did.

Actually, his fighting style was pretty unique, so I couldn't say for sure whether the others could replicate his actions. Hee-Ra noona’s style was the closest to his, but his instincts were more developed.

Just like how beasts instinctively sensed danger, his ability to sense danger and his pure, raw strength were unbelievably monstrous.

“You’re annoying,” I said.

"Weren’t you the one who wanted me to act confidently?"

“I didn’t think you’d act this annoyingly. If I may give you a piece of advice-”

"Are you going to tell me to utilize my party members?"

'So how come you aren’t doing it?'

"You’re probably going to tell me to utilize my strengths. Be persistent and tenacious... like rolling around in mud. That’s probably it."

'Since you know, why aren’t you doing it, then?'

“The opponent is exhausted. Dragging this into a long-term battle would be the most reasonable approach, but we don’t have time for that...” I told him.

"So you’re telling me to go after them relentlessly without giving up."

“Fight dirty. Be shameless and ruthless. Be persistent to the point that your enemy will feel uncomfortable fighting against you. There’s no need for high-level combat or complicated mind games. Bring your opponent down all the way to the bottom of the ocean,” I continued.

The jerk full of pride said nothing, but that didn’t mean that he decided to ignore my advice.

Woo Hyo-Yeol raised his finger and signaled to his party members. Lim Chae-Ryeong hid, and Nam Goong-Seon channeled her spell.

No Dam-Hye changed her song, and they prepared for a battle that was different from earlier.

Woo Hyo-Yeol gnashed his teeth as he swung his sword. He didn’t even look at his opponent, but there was meaning behind his actions. At a glance, he looked like he was swinging his sword randomly, and despite the fact that Kim Ye-Ri was faster, he chased after her relentlessly, depleting her stamina.

The only thing he could see clearly were her legs, so he rolled on the ground, crawled, threw dust at her, and started targeting her lower body.

It was a simple attack pattern, and it was so simple that it wouldn’t work against anyone with enough experience. It was something one would expect from a street thug, but when someone like Woo Hyo-Yeol used it, it became a real threat.

It was hard to predict where he was going to go.

Kim Ye-Ri was frantic, as she had never fought against someone like him.

"Tssk! The way you fight lacks grace."

"So there are fools who care about looking graceful while fighting."

Instead of throwing away his sword and kicking at his enemy, Woo Hyo-Yeol swung his fist. When he ought to create distance, he charged at his enemy. When he ought to recover his sword, he kicked it away at the enemy. When he ought to swing his sword, he charged at his enemy instead.

It was a messy fight that I couldn’t understand or analyze, and he was pulling the Queen of Succubi into this messy fight.

‘Since you can do something like this from the very beginning, how come you've never done it until now?’

Even William was fighting properly upon recalling what he had learned, so I was really surprised by what Woo Hyo-Yeol was doing.

“Mr. William...” I said.

"Yes?"

‘I don’t think I need to make any comments...’

'Why is it that when you raise two kids, one always requires a lot of attention while the other does fine on their own?' It's not the best example, but that’s what William looks like in my eyes.'

He had long understood himself. He knew that he couldn’t walk the same path as Woo Hyo-Yeol and that he had a fatal flaw. In a way, he was the exact opposite of Woo Hyo-Yeol. He always played by the book, relying on strength forged through effort rather than innate talent. I was not saying that he was talentless, but...

‘There's a clear difference between the two.’

He delivered a thrust with his sword that he had swung hundreds, thousands—no, tens of thousands of times. At the same time, he coordinated perfectly with his party members... making it feel like every move was rehearsed in advance.

Obviously, I preferred William’s method over Woo Hyo-Yeol’s method.

‘Woo Hyo-Yeol’s method lacks grace.’

'And it doesn’t look cool either.'

“You’re doing well,” I said.

"Hmph."

“I’m not talking about you, Mr. Hyo-Yeol,” I said.

"..."

Since he was showing boldness that he had never shown before, I started nodding at the sight of it. He gave up on casting protection-type spells on himself and concentrated his mana into his sword.

Every time he swung his sword, a crimson flower would appear.

The Blood-Crazed Holy Knight was being pushed into a corner by William’s sword.

Was Woo Hyo-Yeol aware that he could have the advantage in battle by waiting for his turn to attack? William blocked and attacked immediately afterward. It was a simple attack pattern, but not everyone had the ability to understand this simple pattern.

The Flower and Fertility Familia were moving as one as if they all had wings.

‘Since you can do this, how come you've just started doing it?’

"Not bad for a dirty pest."

"Hmph."

Woo Hyo-Yeol swung his sword.

"Damn it! Blood—"

William drew a crimson flower, one after another.

On the other side, Woo Hyo-Yeol was fighting dirty, and he looked like he was rolling on a puddle of mud.

‘It might work.’

I felt like they no longer needed a coach. It wasn’t like Park Deok-Gu, Ahn Ki-Mo, or Kim Ye-Ri were going easy on them. Of course, they weren’t in their best condition, but William and Woo Hyo-Yeol were getting exactly what they wanted from the Park-Ki-Ri siblings.

Woo Hyo-Yeol was getting used to Kim Ye-Ri’s speed and techniques while William's attacks were becoming sharp enough to leave a mark on Park Deok-Gu’s shield.

‘They’re evolving.’

They were following the cliche where the protagonist would grow stronger during a battle.

All I did was toss in a few casual jokes and conversation amidst the fight, but...

‘It’s clearly effective.’

“Mr. Hyo-Yeol, you’re not tired, are you?” I asked.

"Pant... pant... don’t be ridiculous."

“Mr. William, your sword is moving slower.” I pointed out.

"I’m sorry. Whoo... whoo..."

“No, I’m not asking for an apology,” I said.

‘Experience is what’s important.’

“Do you remember?” I asked.

"Huh? O-Of course I remember."

“Back then, you were really strong,” I said, uttering clichéd lines. “I believe your true strength is being persistent. Of course, it may not mean much to you since it’s such a cliché thing to say....

"..."

“...”

“From my point of view, you're the type to keep challenging higher heights. You stumbled, fled, and trembled in fear, but you never stopped climbing. You're like a climber desperate to reach the peak and plant their flag.

"You were really cool. You probably can't imagine just how noble and breathtaking you appeared at the time,” I described him.

"That’s..."

“Even after falling and breaking down, you got back up and prepared for what’s next. You ran away, but you eventually returned and continued on climbing... Not giving up is the greatest talent,” I continued.

At that exact moment, he bounced off the shield and rolled on the ground.

Obviously, he wouldn’t stay still after hearing such high praise, and as if to prove that I was right, he immediately got up and drew a crimson flower. It was sure it was a bone-shattering hit, but he gnashed his teeth, holding back the pain.

"You flatter me," replied William.

"Anything you want to say to me?" Woo Hyo-Yeol chimed in.

“Not really,” I answered.

"..."

“What else do you want me to say to you? You’re a genius, Mr. Hyo-Yeol,” I added.

"Hmph."

‘He’s so annoying because I have to keep telling him that he’s doing well.’

Woo Hyo-Yeol stomped forward, seemingly satisfied with my answer. He smiled and jumped as if every muscle on his body was working together to push him forward. No matter the process, the result was already determined.

"You’ve slowed down."

"Damn it! How dare a lowly mortal like you! How dare you!"

"Blood! More blood! Mwahahaha!"

‘Kim Ye-Ri is one thing, but how can he even say such cringey lines?’

"I won’t fall for the same trick twice."

"Hmph! Move aside! I’ll deal with him!"

"Don’t make me laugh! Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield! He’s my prey!"

‘Those two must have built a relationship while arguing with each other.’

When I analyzed the battlefield, I saw that the Park-Ki-Ri siblings had reached their limits.

‘They know that those two are growing stronger.’

I was sure they wanted to take a break. Kim Hyun-Sung probably hadn't gone easy on them, so they were probably a complete mess on the inside. Despite that, they had no choice but to keep fighting because they also wanted Woo Hyo-Yeol and William to grow even stronger.

They also helped William, who was relatively inexperienced, fix his bad habits and taught him how to attack more efficiently.

Kim Ye-Ri was actively demonstrating Kim Hyun-Sung’s sword technique. Although it was nothing more than an imitation, she knew better than anyone that it would be helpful to Woo Hyo-Yeol. Of course, this was just a matter of time as well.

‘I don’t know how long Jung Ha-Yan, Han Sora, and Dummy Hye-Jin can hold back Kim Hyun-Sung either...’

Perhaps he was already looking for me.

"Nooo!!! Not me! Not me! To a mere mortal!"

‘This is the perfect timing.’

"You imbecile! You fool! It’s because of you! Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield!"

"That’s my line!"

‘Perfect.’

I heard a voice right afterward.

"Pant... pant... Lee Ki-Young... where are you... right now?"

"Whoo... haa... Mr. Lee Ki-Young. Where are you?"

Unfortunately...

‘It’s still not enough.’

They really needed to grow even stronger.
