Reincarnated as a Son of the Sword Saint and the Sage

Chapter 518 - 518: Frenzy In The Imperial Capital

In the middle of the awarding ceremony, Prince Edward suddenly attacked Edith as well as his friends before he did something bad to his father. The knights and guards tried to stop him, but alas, they were unsuccessful.

Erik tried to stop him as well, but Edward mysteriously gained the ability to cast high-level Force Magic spells and easily blasted him away. Before everyone’s eyes, Edward ultimately stabbed his father.

Everyone in the VIP room panicked and hurriedly exited the room with their guards. My sister and I were taken aback by the suddenness of the situation, and we were not able to react immediately.

“What the hell? Why did Edward stab the emperor?” My sister asked, visibly shocked. “Has he gone mad?”

“I felt like it wasn’t His Imperial Highness at all,” Christine noted. “He respected his father so much, so there’s no way he could do that to him for no reason.”

“Look!”

As Sophia pointed out, the knights and guards, who rushed toward Edward to contain him, suddenly fell to the ground one after another. The gunshots echoing in the coliseum were the reasons for it.

“Wait, they were being shot by some people in the audience. Aren’t they contestants of the tournament?”

“You’re right, Sister. They are contenders of the tournament. If I remember correctly, they are some of the suspiciously large number of archers who participated just to lose. They must be the forces of the Aethel family to execute their plans.”

“So that’s why there were so many marksmen this year.”

My main attention was so focused on the arena that I personally did not catch those people drawing out karabiner replicas from their magic bags and using them to shoot the knights and guards in the coliseum.

Since the karabiners were probably the main weapon of this chaos, the Aethel family naturally hired skilled marksmen to do the job. Those people then disguised themselves as contestants so that they could get in the city without issues under the context of participation.

Even though the quality of the firearms was not on the level of the authentic ones, the shooters’ Shooting Arts could make the bullets fly with more accuracy. There were hundreds of them in the coliseum at the moment, and the imperial forces were completely bombarded from all directions.

“What are Edward and the Aethel family trying to do? Are they inciting an uprising?!”

Christine was visibly worried and possibly enraged when she uttered those questions. We could not blame her since a potential rebellion was occurring right before her eyes.

“Calm down, Christine. Let’s assess the situation first.”

“How could you stay calm when the emperor is lying there fighting for his life?! This is clearly treason! You were once a part of the empire, Louise! Please show a bit of care!”

“I know, but we cannot decide on what to do if we are not thinking rationally. So please cool down so that we can think of anything as quickly as possible.”

“…I understand.”

Once Big Sis had calmed Christine down, I walked toward her. The bullets were still flying around, so I had deployed a barrier.

“So what should we do, Sister?” I looked at my sister. “Should we help them out?”

“You must be wondering what we could do as sovereign entities to the empire’s affairs. But this is an emergency that needs to be resolved immediately. More knights are coming here, so the best thing we could do was to protect the innocents.”

“I see.” I nodded my head once. “I could also sense that there are more of those rebels scattered around the city. They really are making a big mess here. Well, as for the emperor…”

“It’s hard to break it to you, Christine, but I hear no heartbeat from him.”

“No way…”

“The queendom is giving condolences, Christine.” My sister then proceeded to give her a tight embrace. “But don’t you worry; we might possibly be able to resurrect him.”

“Really…?”

“Yeah. But first, let’s retrieve His Imperial Majesty as well as keep anyone in the coliseum safe. Raphael, protect the ones in the arena while I take out the insurgents.”

“Affirmative, Sister.”

After listening to my sister’s plan, I turned to Iris and Sophia.

“Iris, while we are not here, we are counting on you to protect Sophia and Christine.”

“You can leave them to me, Raphael. I will protect them at all costs.”

“Thank you, Iris. Well then, we have to go now.”

◆◇◆

Casting a Warp, I transported myself from the VIP seats to the arena, where knights were lying around, critically wounded. As soon as I landed on the floor, I immediately deployed several barriers to deflect the bullets coming from the insurgents’ rifles.

Meanwhile, my sister hurriedly rushed to the audience by foot with her katana in her hand. She was running fast, circling the coliseum as she was taking out the assailants one after another. She was just moving at her sheer strength and speed, by the way, with no stat buffs or techniques.

It was a good thing that they were mostly marksmen with little close combat prowess, making their subjugation a lot easier. My sister would be having a little difficulty if they were warriors of sorts, but she would still have won against them nevertheless.

Well, I could have just done all of this alone. But if I were to do that, my sister would lose her credibility as the queendom’s next queen since I did all the work.

Public trust was substantially important for a ruler or a leader. The people’s satisfaction was a major priority. By splitting the work on helping an empire’s conflict, masses would witness my sister’s worth.

Anyways, I had to check on other things after securing the place. I turned to the spot where Erik crashed, and he was still lying there. He was pretending to be unconscious, but he would get up later.

Unfortunately, there were dead and severely wounded bodies scattered all over the arena. Gavar, the emperor’s bodyguard, was lying facedown on the floor unconscious, but not dead yet.

I then cast Light Magic Level 6: Area High Healing to patch up the wounds of the survivors. In the middle of it, a group of people approached me from behind. They were Edith and Edward’s friends as they were being accompanied by cautious knights. Surprisingly, they were unharmed.

“Your Highness Raphael, we are very grateful for helping us in spite of being from a sovereign nation,” Francis expressed his gratitude.

“It’s fine. I am still a student of the imperial academy after all, so it’s reasonable for me to lend you a hand. By the way, is His Imperial Majesty alright?”

“It is tragic, but…”

After that, they then set themselves aside, giving my vision a way to see what was behind them. On the floor, I saw Emperor Alfred Dixon’s lifeless body, which was surrounded by imperial clerics and physicians desperately trying to resuscitate him.

“I am sorry for the empire’s loss.” I gravely grieve.

“They have been trying their best to keep him alive, but the damage to his body is too fatal to be healed. I know that there are some ways to resurrect a deceased person, but we don’t know how to do it or where we could find this person. Even if we are lucky, it would probably be too late to reverse the effect.”

Mom could indeed cast resurrection magic, but it actually was not publicly known, which explained everyone’s pessimism.

“His Imperial Majesty died in an unfair manner, and he did not deserve this,” I said before turning my body in a certain direction. “For now, we should question the murderer why he did this.”

“Edward…”
