Having neutralized Nainai, Qilin held the others at bay with the threat of Eidos, weaving between their ranged attacks. After ten seconds, he tapped into his energy once more. Black liquid oozed from his left arm's stump, vaporizing on contact with the ground and spreading into thick poisonous mist.

[Nine Frost: He's stalling until Unreachable becomes available again. Don't let him!]

[Nine Frost: Gregor!]

[Gregor: Coming, coming.]

Hidden within the poisonous mist, Qilin finally caught his breath. He assessed his energy pathways and Talent cooldowns, planning his next move. Since Gao Yang silenced him, he'd been counting; one minute and forty-five seconds had passed. He only needed to endure a little longer for Unreachable to return.

Something triggered his senses. Qilin manipulated the poisonous mist around him with Telekinesis, then deliberately dispersed it three seconds later, exposing himself to his enemies.

He scowled at the necessity. His psychic power had detected a more lethal poisonous mist infiltrating his own. His Telekinesis couldn't effectively distinguish between the two types of mist without consuming massive amounts of energy, and even then, one mistake could end with his flesh and bones melting.

Qilin's caution proved warranted. As Patient's mist dispersed, it revealed dozens of poisonous wind strands that had secretly converged around him. They reformed in the air, creating a terrifying skull with animated jaws. It was Gregor’s level 5 Pestilence’s doing.

However, Gregor didn’t dare to blindly make another attack. His control over the poisonous wind wasn’t at the level of X’s with level 7 Pestilence; he could very well hurt his teammates instead with a mistake.

The scattered mist triggered an immediate response. Wang Zikai, Gao Yang, Qing Ling, and Dead Pig converged on Qilin from multiple angles, preventing him from isolating any single target.

Mischievous Monkey, Fat Jun, Heavenly Dog, and the returning Liao Liao launched attacks from medium range. Old Seven, Lin Fu, Small Luo, and Muzitu maintained pressure from a distance.

Bumblebee’s Decaying Particles, mixed with Crimson Bee’s Bee Venom and Spider Venom, swarmed up to Qilin, too, but to minimize friendly fire, the poison wasn’t as potent as it could be, and Qilin could resist it for a few minutes with his many Talents buffing him.

Slowly, the balance of the fight tilted.

The close-range attackers posed the greatest threat. Any single mistake against them meant death, especially facing Gao Yang or Wang Zikai. Qilin expended his psychic power to keep them at bay, but that was the extent of what he could do. Even if an opportunity to make a lethal attack at one of them presented itself, he would need two seconds of full focus to do it; and now? He barely got half a second, let alone two.

Meanwhile, Qilin controlled ten shadow soldiers to fight Qing Ling and Dead Pig—the rest of the shadow was used to armor himself. At the same time, he kept converting the different Talents he could use through puppet contracts to face more threats.

Qilin felt his energy and willpower draining away like water. The prolonged battle was taking its toll.

Qilin was trapped beneath a descending guillotine, his jaws clenched on the rope that held the blade. Releasing it meant death, yet holding on would eventually exhaust him. Though Unreachable would free him from this predicament, each second stretched into torturous eternity, and he'd lost the clarity to track time.

Hiss. His psychic power took a devastating hit. In that moment of distraction, Wang Zikai—who'd been fighting shadow soldiers alongside Qing Ling just a second ago—appeared directly above him.

Gao Yang had created a double to teleport Wang Zikai into position. Seizing the opportunity, Wang Zikai thrust his crimson bone stings toward Qilin.

Swoosh. Though Qilin's senses stayed sharp, his exhausted body had begun to lag behind. His dodge came too late; one bone sting pierced his left arm.

Qilin's heart seized. If that bone sting sealed his energy pathway, death would follow instantly.

Without hesitation, he commanded his shadow armor to slice off his entire left arm.

Blood sprayed outward, but instead of falling, it transformed into countless sharp red needles under God of Water's control. The needles, now laced with Patient's poison, shot toward Gao Yang and Wang Zikai.

With a thought, Gao Yang manifested a translucent golden shield, intercepting the deadly barrage.

The loss of Qilin's arm visibly weakened him, igniting fresh determination in Gao Yang's group. They pressed their attack with renewed vigor.

Qilin sealed his wound with Telekinesis and severed his connection to pain.

He tilted his head back and howled.

“Aghhh!!”

Dense psychic rays erupted from his body. By reducing their offensive power, he extended their reach, affecting most enemies within a hundred-meter radius. Though the rays themselves caused no damage, they served as a medium for Six Senses Judge, vastly expanding its effective range.

Gao Yang's world plunged into darkness and silence.

Shit!

He and his teammates had lost their sight and hearing.

The silver lining was that Qilin, too, had sacrificed his vision; he could no longer target specific enemies with his powerful psychic attacks and illusions. Yet Mind's Eye still granted him a form of sight.
