An unknown amount of time passed.

Inside this cramped room—that was only decorated, by a bed, sofa, and pillows, there was nothing to do other than dwell inside one's mind. A place to reflect the soul and learn more about oneself.

Jailed inside this room are three figures with glowing golden eyes.

Each one of them was glowing under the dim light, showing that they weren't normal.

Naturally, these three were Radiel, Catherine, and also Eryndor.

Sensing that Eryndor was nearby, Radiel and Catherine were excited—their rescuer was near and their freedom was imminent. Once the door was opened, the two thought that they were going to be freed.

In their minds, their rescuer must've struck a deal with the Silverstar Pack.

But that wasn't the case.

As opposed to being freed, Eryndor also got locked up alongside them.

Even a high-rank Angel as strong, as Eryndor wasn't able to find a way to rescue them, from the Silverstar Pack's grasp and it was understandable. Catherine knew that this was coming—she had a personal talk with the Emperor and had her first impression of him.

Initially, she thought of the Emperor as a grand evil prince.

He was meticulous, threatening, and someone who stabbed from the back.

An Emperor who viewed himself as too dignified to rustle in a battle.

But she was proven wrong as the Emperor was extremely fierce in battle.

She watched as he took down Radiel as if he was nothing.

Due to that, she has little hope that even Eryndor will be able to find a way to rescue them.

Unlike Radiel who was hopeful of Eryndor's experience, she wasn't.

And she was proved absolutely right.

"How long are we going to stay here...?" Radiel uttered, leaning against a wall.

Catherine's expression tightened, "Our holy energy is being sucked constantly in this room, the room itself was locked in multiple formations that made it impossible for us to force our way through—and even if we do go out, we need to deal with the guards, the servants, the Empress and her pack as well as the entire city forces"

She took in every little detail earlier when she was brought outside to meet Eryndor.

And she concluded that it was impossible to escape.

Unless the Silverstar Pack let them go, they would be stuck here in this room.

Silence enveloped the room once again.

Radiel sighed heavily, he glanced at Eryndor and found his face was troubled.

"What's on your mind, Master Eryndor?" He asked but then, his expression paled. "Is it him...? Are you worried about him?"

"Yes," Eryndor nodded as he closed his eyes. "I can feel traces of his corrupted holy energy, he's searching for us. I'm certain he is a part of the army led by Calignar, and I'm afraid if we stayed here, he would find us"

Hearing this, Radiel and Catherine shivered.

Just the thought of meeting that Angel made them shudder in utter fear.

As the trio were talking in the darkness, Eryndor opened his eyes when he sensed someone approaching. He glanced over to Catherine and saw her nodding her head—the person who was coming was none other than the Emperor.

Before coming here, Eryndor had scoured through multiple kingdoms.

He was hoping that one of the kingdoms knew the location of the Fifthborn's demise.

Since Radiel and Catherine aimed at the mid-rank Supernatural races, he ought to begin his search from the high-rank Supernatural races—as he was capable of protecting himself. He stumbled into the Werewolf territory first.

Kidnapping several Werewolves and interrogating them, he found not a single clue.

None of the Werewolves he crossed knew the location.

However, as soon as he stumbled into the Dark Elf territory, he got a clue.

Grueling one Dark Elf with questions—he managed to force the Dark Elf to tell the truth, and he said that he knew the location of the Fifthborn's demise. But no matter how hard he tried—the Dark Elf wouldn't tell him where.

A fierce loyalty added to fear prevented the Dark Elf from speaking of the location.

Changing the question, Eryndor found the Dark Elf was loyal to the Emperor.

Every single Dark Elf he interrogated said the exact same thing.

Better yet, once they were freed from control, the Dark Elves wanted the exact same thing.

'Kill me, go on, I don't care. After all, for trying to find out more about the Emperor, you are a dead man already... I'll be seeing you in the afterlife shortly'

Eryndor had those words branded inside his mind.

It seemed the Emperor was that strong.

Not to mention, Catherine and Radiel also already explained to him, how they got captured and also what their impression of the Emperor was as he was the only one who hadn't had the moment to meet the Emperor.

And from them, the Emperor was menacing.

Defeated Radiel without even turning into his Werewolf form, confronting Chaos minions bare without any protection, meticulous, cunning, he was stacked. Eryndor was not surprised, that the Fifthborn lost to the Emperor.

Now, he was going to meet with the Emperor for the first time.

Due to how silent the room was, the Angels could hear the footsteps on the other side.

All of them could hear someone walking down the stairs slowly.

Each step made Eryndor sweated harder.

Even the incoming shadow that could be seen from the gap below the door—was enough to make the three Angels gulp, the pressure coming from the Emperor was too strong. Eryndor waited patiently but got his breath hitched at something.

Once the feet stopped in front of the door with a light noise, the light was turned on.

But even then, Eryndor saw only darkness.

Under the light at the center of the ceiling, the room should be bright but it wasn't—the aura of evil that came from the entity on the other side of the door, drowned the light. Soon, once their heartbeat reached its peak, the door swung open.

Eryndor saw a man clad in a regal black cloak stepped inside the room.

Instinctively, he straightened his back—his senses were sending danger signals to his brain.

Rex swept his gaze from Radiel—on his right, Catherine sitting by the bed at the center, and finally to the last Angel, Eryndor, whom he never met before. Seeing Rex turning his head, in his direction, Eryndor tilted his head down to avoid eye contact.

As he did that, his eyes widened, 'I... His pressure is insane for someone from the new era!'

Eryndor felt like he was being trapped in a whirlpool.

Just the pressure coming from Rex alone turned his body as stiff as a monolith statue.

Despite wanting to keep his composure, his body moved on its own.

It wouldn't listen no matter how hard he tried to look up and meet Rex's gaze.

Rex tilted his head to look at Eryndor while Evelyn closed the door behind her.

Once Rex arrives, the tension rises like static.

Nobody dared to utter a single word, capable of only waiting for Rex to speak.

"So," He started coldly. "this is the arrogant Angel who dared to test my Empress' patience?"

Upon hearing this, Evelyn chuckled and placed her hand on Rex's shoulder, "Don't scare him like that, he's the master of the fifth battalion. It would be humiliating for him to be unsightly in front of his subordinates"

Rex smiled and approached Eryndor with steady steps.

He was already briefed about the possible reason why Void was aiming for the Symposium of Upper Divinities. It turns out he wanted to be an Origin, Flunra, confirmed that. But even so, it would be better if Rex made sure of it.

In order to do that, he needs to make Eryndor fear him.

Making that happen wasn't a hard thing to do.

Rex's formidable reputation smoothed the path and he could already see Eryndor's body was leaking, bleak aura. Stopping before him, Rex cast a piercing gaze—downward, and his sheer presence alone commanded silence.

However, before he could utter a word, Catherine intervened.

Her small voice cuts through the tension.

"Your Majesty, " She began with poise, "please forgive his rudeness. His actions, were driven by the need to save us, not to bring harm to your empire. If the young girl remains troubled, I can personally attend to her mental well-being until she recovers"

Upon hearing this, Rex turned towards Catherine in confusion.

He then continued to look at Evelyn questioningly, "Young girl...? What young girl?"

Evelyn was stunned, she didn't expect Catherine to blurt that out.

She cast Catherine a peculiar look.

Realizing what she did, Catherine covered her mouth instinctively as her eyes widened.

"Evelyn," Rex called again with a deeper tone. "what young girl?"

"It's nothing unrepairable, we'll talk about it after this,"

"I'm asking you a question, and I expected an answer. Are you hiding things from me?"

Cursing Catherine inside her head, Evelyn smiled sheepishly, "It's Nadia..."

In the instant Rex heard those words, the air turned frigid.

"Kahkk!"

Not hesitating even for a bit, he spun around, his movements swift and resolute and seized Eryndor, by the throat. With a force that seemed to quake—the very walls of the room, Rex slammed him against the surface, the impact echoing like a thunderclap.

Rex's voice was silent, but the crackling surge of lunar mana spoke volumes.

He cast the Seven Legendary Lunar Armaments spell.

From the shimmering cascade of moonlight, a spear materialized, radiant and deadly.

Grabbing the spear, Rex drove it into Eryndor's right hand—piercing through flesh and bone, anchoring him to the wall. Eryndor's gasp of pain barely escaped his lips before Rex reached a second weapon—a moonlight lance.

Its edge glowed with a celestial fury as Rex impaled Eryndor's other hand.

He was now crucified against the cold wall.

Rex's moved and stopped in an instant, it was over by the time the others blinked. Experience more on empire

His brutality unfolded so swiftly that the room was paralyzed in shock.

Blood dripped down from Eryndor's hand, highlighted by the lunar weapons.

Once the first tortured scream erupted from Eryndor's lips as his nerves finally registered the searing agony. But before his cries could swell further, Rex's hand was at his throat again, he cut off both air and sound.

Hearing that Eryndor hurt Nadia, Rex's eyes burned with a hellish red glow.

Death hovered behind his glare.

"So you're the one who pushed Nadia..." Rex whispered hauntingly.

Recalling that Nadia came to the Elven territory which led to a chain of problems that caused one of his captains' demise, Rex now knew—the entity behind it. He thought he was the only one to blame but Eryndor also participated.

Catherine and Radiel sucked in a cold breath, their hearts skipped a beat.

Despite their weakness, Eryndor is an experienced ninth-rank realm Angel.

For Rex to take him down as easily as this was still surprising to see with their own eyes.

"Wait!" Evelyn shouted from behind and grabbed ahold of Rex's arm. "Nadia is fine!"

"Yes... but Dindora died because of him" Rex replied without even glancing at her.

Evelyn gritted her teeth, she was keeping this thing a secret because she didn't want him to know and react like this. It was certainly traumatizing for Nadia to see her uncle being taken over by Eryndor but she was fine.

In fact, Evelyn had already sent people to check on her a couple of times.

"I understand that but killing him wouldn't change a thing" Evelyn rebutted. "Don't do this"

Eryndor would be a good pawn for them when they battle the Angels.

She couldn't let Rex kill him like this.

As he writhes in pain, Eryndor looks at Rex, "I... I didn't mean to. F- Forgive me"

A good minute passed as Rex kept glaring at Eryndor.

Finding Evelyn's hand tightening on his arm, encouraging him to stop, Rex finally let go.

Both of the lunar weapons dissipated before Eryndor slid down to the ground.

His hands were trembling uncontrollably as the pain was still there.

Just as he was about to say something—Rex grabbed him by his blonde hair and yanked his head up—forcing him to look up, "For the Empress, I will pardon your insolent life—but know that you are not free. Make it up to me tenfold or I will rip out your spine slowly, and shove it into those two chests so that they could feel a tenth of what Nadia felt"

"Do you understand...?" He asked menacingly.
