Chapter 2616: Demonic Transformation

Karlia took a deep breath, the weight of the solemn oath she had just sworn still settling upon her.

"I, Karlia, the first of her name and from the true lineage of the War Flame Demon tribe, swear upon my ancestors' spirit that I shall keep the secret of Lin Mu in my heart and would not reveal it. If I break this oath, may my soul be devoured by the Flames of the Nine Hells!" Her voice rang with unyielding conviction.

Lin Mu held her gaze, his clear eyes scanning her for even the slightest trace of deceit. But there was none. To confirm, he invoked the Severing Heart Sutra, a technique that calmed his emotions and sharpened his perception of others. As he looked deeper into her mind—not intrusively, but enough to sense her sincerity—he found no duplicity. Only resolve and honesty radiated from her.

"So mote it be," he said, his voice steady.

"So mote it be," Karlia echoed.

Suddenly, an unseen power bound their oath. A flicker of phantom flames danced in their eyes, visible for only a fleeting moment, signifying the pact's divine acknowledgment. The very air seemed to hum with the energy of their unbreakable promise.

With the oath sealed, Lin Mu saw no reason to withhold his secret any longer.

"I will show you now," he said solemnly, his tone carrying both gravity and caution. "But I warn you, it is unlike any demonic technique you may have encountered. Even Ziran saw only a glimpse of it, and he couldn't comprehend what he witnessed."

Karlia crossed her arms and leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. "So, my husband has seen it? That makes me even more eager to witness this firsthand."

Lin Mu gave a small nod before closing his eyes, focusing inward. His aura, which had been calm and restrained moments before, began to shift dramatically. A sudden wave of rage and fury surged through him, potent and raw yet contained within an invisible boundary no larger than three meters around him.

Karlia felt it immediately. The power emanating from him was unmistakably demonic, yet it was different from the aura of her kind. It was purer, fiercer, and carried an undercurrent of fiery wrath that made her instinctively tense. Her demonic instincts screamed of danger, warning her to prepare for an attack—even though she knew rationally that Lin Mu would not harm her.

The transformation began subtly at first, but it quickly escalated. Lin Mu's muscles swelled, his body expanding with immense power. Fur sprouted from his skin in thick waves, a dark sheen covering his form. An inverted triangular sigil, glowing faintly, appeared on his chest, pulsing with a menacing energy. Two massive horns grew from the sides of his head, curving upward as if defying the heavens themselves. His hands morphed into claws, each one over fifty centimeters long, sharp as blades and brimming with lethal intent. His teeth elongated into dagger-like fangs, his jawline broadening to accommodate their ferocity.

When the transformation completed, Lin Mu stood over six meters tall, a hulking monstrosity of demonic power. His aura now resembled a storm of fiery wrath, swirling around him in oppressive waves. The air crackled with tension, and the ground beneath his feet seemed to tremble under the weight of his presence.

Karlia's breath caught in her throat. She had fought alongside countless demons on battlefields drenched in blood, but the being before her was unlike anything she had ever seen. He resembled a towering bear, yet the demonic features—the horns, the claws, the eyes that burned crimson with unrelenting fury—were undeniable. Her bloodline's instincts screamed at her to run, to escape this predator that could tear her apart in an instant.

Yet she stood her ground, her heart pounding against her ribcage.

"Lin Mu… you…" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lin Mu, his demonic form towering over her, gazed down at her with eyes that flickered like twin infernos. He could see the shock written plainly on her face, but he had expected as much. Slowly, he began to suppress the transformation, chanting the Calming Heart Sutra in his mind. Bit by bit, the monstrous features receded. His fur disappeared, the horns retracted, and his crimson eyes dimmed, returning to their brown hue. In mere moments, Lin Mu stood before her once again as a human, his breathing steady, his demeanor composed.

Karlia did not speak for several long minutes. She stared at him, her mind racing to process what she had just witnessed. Lin Mu waited patiently, knowing it was a lot to take in.

Finally, she broke the silence. "That was… Demonic Transformation." Her voice carried a mix of awe and disbelief. "But how is that possible? You don't even have a drop of demon blood in you."

Lin Mu remained silent, letting her come to her own conclusions.

Karlia's brows furrowed as she tried to make sense of what she had seen. She recalled her countless battles and the traits of demonic transformations, but none matched Lin Mu's display. ℟à₦ƟᛒЁș

"It's simply a technique of mine," Lin Mu finally said, his voice calm. "You can think of it as a legacy I inherited."

Karlia's expression grew serious. She looked deeply into his eyes, searching for any hint of a lie. "You truly have no demonic bloodline?" she asked one last time.

"None," Lin Mu affirmed.

Karlia's demeanor shifted abruptly. She stepped closer, her tone grave. "Then you must claim that you have one."

Lin Mu's brows knitted in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"If it becomes known that you can transform into a demonic form like that without possessing a demon's bloodline, it will cause an upheaval. Both the Demon Tribes and Human powers will come after you."

Lin Mu's eyes widened. "Is it really that severe?"

Karlia nodded, her face grim. "You don't understand the implications. What you just demonstrated removes the line between humans and demons. It proves that humans can become demons and perhaps even vice versa. Both sides hold too much pride to accept such a truth."
