WIZARD STARTING FROM SHOEING DONKEYS
Chapter 540 - 236: Sword Bearer Assessment (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)Chapter 540: Chapter 236: Sword Bearer Assessment (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)
A quaint square building, similar to a temple but without the Doric columns, stood before them, guarded by eight sword and shield-bearing guards at its spacious entrance.
Squinting, Rein caught a glimpse of the golden characters ‘Imperial Sword Holder Minter Branch’ above the doorway.
As the two approached the gateway, a guard stepped forward and said, “Are you here for the assessment, my lord? Please present your invitation.”
…
After completing a series of formalities, Rein and Vinica were shown to their assigned rooms.
They were on the second floor in two adjacent rooms, and the faint sounds of conversation suggested the rooms were nearly full with other assessors.
…
With the assessment day close at hand, neither Rein nor Vinica chose to explore the provincial city of Minter, deciding to wait until after the assessment was over.
…
Time sped by, and the morning of the assessment arrived.
Around 8:30 AM, Rein and Vinica found themselves in a spacious and bright hall.
The floor was immaculate, with rows of long-backed chairs neatly arranged.
At that moment, the hall was sparsely filled with twenty or thirty young people.
A female officer in charge, upon seeing Rein and Vinica enter, said in a crisp voice, “Please feel free to sit wherever you like; there’s no need to be nervous. The order of the exam has nothing to do with where you sit.”
After listening, Rein nodded, exchanged a look with Vinica, and they took seats in a less crowded corner.
However, within minutes of their settling down, four or five young people arrived, including a redhead who, upon entering the hall, spotted Rein in the corner and couldn’t help but call out, “Rein~”
And happily waved to him!
“Hmm?” Rein looked up to see it was Eveline Norman, a dazzling redhead from Rosby, the Viscount Norman’s daughter Eveline.
The sight of such a beauty greeting Rein cheerily made everyone in the hall glance his way as if to see which young talent had caught the favor of a beautiful woman.
Vinica, sitting beside Rein, glanced at him and then at the redhead, inwardly musing that her competition seemed formidable, thinking, “I just had Agatha as a competitor, and now there’s this beautiful redhead.”
And from the redhead’s appearance and abilities, she seemed to be much stronger than Agatha.
When Eveline approached, she asked with a smile, “Rein, when did you get here?”
“Oh, and who might this be?” Eveline inquired seriously upon seeing the young girl with twin ponytails next to Rein.
“Eveline, this is my good friend, Vinica, a third-level Wizard Apprentice from the Ubric School,” Rein introduced.
“Vinica, this is Eveline from Rosby City, a good friend I made during the nobility title assessment.”
The two women sized each other up, and Eveline smiled and said, “Miss Vinica, it’s nice to meet you, you’re very beautiful!”
“Miss Eveline, you are very beautiful as well.”
Although Rein and Eveline were not romantically involved, there was an unspoken tension in the air. To defuse it, Rein coughed and shifted the conversation, “Eveline, who are these people?”
Eveline, realizing her oversight, quickly said, “Sorry, I forgot to introduce you, they were all outstanding in the last nobility assessment. This is Bridget Sanchez from Valant County, and this is Stamp from Welsh County…”
Rein nodded at each in turn. With his Great Knight strength and highly sensitive spiritual power perception, he noticed with just a brief scan that these individuals all possessed the strength of Peak Knights.
The only one with a slightly weaker presence, a veteran Knight who had unusual spiritual power fluctuations, was clearly a second-level Wizard Apprentice.
Being both a veteran Knight and a second-level Wizard Apprentice, it was hard to say who would be stronger compared to the Peak Knight without a direct contest.
Just as Eveline said, they were some of the best contenders from his noble title assessment batch.
As the scheduled time of the assessment approached, more and more young people gradually arrived in the hall.
About half an hour later, as the time neared the appointed nine o’clock, the hall had swelled from the initial thirty-some individuals to around eighty or ninety.
In the crowd, there were a few groups whose outfits were noticeably different; one group was in full knightly plate armor, exuding a formidable presence as they walked, likely soldiers from the Empire’s army.
Additionally, there were clusters of young people in various long robes, similar to Vinica, likely from the Wizard schools.
Of course, there were also young men and women in tailored noble hunting attire, with a distinctly different demeanor, presumably heirs of the great nobility of Minter City.
The great nobility, or high-ranking noblemen, specifically refers to counts, marquises, and dukes; this was something Rein had learned from Jennifer, the beautiful lady he had met earlier.
At the same time, Rein also spotted the young people he had encountered by Stillwater Lake.
Interestingly, Eveline seemed to know some of them.
“Hey, Fiona, long time no see!” Eveline greeted with a smile as she walked up.
“Eveline, it’s been a while!”
“Oh, it’s you?” the young woman in leather armor recognized Rein immediately, the same young man who had been with three beautiful girls by the shore of Stillwater Lake.
