After having witnessed firsthand the horrors that the invaders from Zipangu brought to this island, and perhaps to the whole world, Drake had decided to confront the invader’s general and their army, and end this once and for all, as quickly as possible. He was not going to bid his time nor wait until something else, nor was he even going to plan something else.

Strategy was pointless when they were in a race against time, even more so when you became as powerful as Drake, he was confident in what he was capable of, and whoever this general was, he was going to first test how truly powerful they were before deciding if he had to actually even strategize. However, he was sure that it wouldn’t be a weak foe either, perhaps just ideal for him to test his new strength.

“We’re here…”

Coral glanced at the city, or what remained of it, mostly now in ruins, he had guided everyone back here as they moved carefully, although even then, Drake’s presence alone would have brought the attention of every enemy, and yet they had not found a single Zipangu soldier.

“So where’s everyone?” Miranda wondered.

“It seems like the entire city is empty… weird,” Yuki said, analyzing her surroundings. “Where are the soldiers at?”

“I can tell, they’re pretty far away,” Andromeda said. “I believe their general has gathered them all, they’re waiting for us in front of the castle.”

“Oh? Interesting, so he’s waiting for us to get there?” Drake wondered, glancing into the distance. “I suppose he’s still, at the end, a “Samurai” or whatever, is that some sort of code of honor, perhaps?”

“Why are you looking at me? I have no idea…” Yuki rolled her eyes.

“My creator had little interaction with such warriors when she lived in Zipangu, so I cannot really confirm such belief… though I wonder where you got it? You didn’t live there either…” Belle said.

“Ah well, back in Earth, the planet where I lived before reincarnating here, there was a country… similar to Zipangu, where I believe is where Zipangu draws its “ideas” for a lack of a better word,” explained Drake. “Whoever created this world must have been a big Japan fan.”

Although they didn’t really get what he was talking about, they made their way to the castle while remaining mostly in silence. After recovering, Eleanor and Rose also joined them, and even Coral. Thanks to Drake, they had now received his System, obtaining Status, Stats, and Skills, making them stronger right away, however Drake wasn’t sure if that would be enough to close the gap between them and Zipangu’s army, but he’ll have to see what happens next.

“It’s filled with mist… Is Zipangu always like this?” Benladann wondered.

“No, but certain regions are always covered with mist, specially the mountains…” Belle said, looking around. “I believe the portal that opened here must have connected to it.”

“Hmm, we’re here,” Drake stood tall, glancing at the gates of the castle’s walls, which were sealed, a powerful barrier imbued with several runes made out of Kanji Letters embedded into them glowed brightly, Zipangu’s magic. “Looks like there’s a powerful Domain Barrier here, it is fueled by the magic of the land, is this what’s called Geomancy? Or Feng Shui.”

“Yes!” Belle nodded. “Magicians of Zipangu, unlike the people of Yggdrasil, draw magical power from the land itself, most of the time. They are not born with Mana Cores inside their bodies after all.”

“I see,” Drake nodded. “This barrier’s strong, by just giving it a glance… and it looks to be made out of powerful Curses mixed together. I can feel the power of those Yokai within it as well… Life is connected to it.”

“Life?” Rose asked nervously. “W-What do you mean with that, uncle Drake?”

“Hmm, that bastard is probably baiting me into breaking this barrier, which would probably kill a lot of people,” Drake explained. “This barrier…” He caressed it gently, as everyone saw black lightning and flames trying to burn his hand, although he was unscathed. “It appears that it is being held strong by the sacrifice of at least… a thousand people.

“What?!” Coral gasped.

“What do you mean by sacrifice?!” Eleanor asked desperately.

“It means what it means,” Drake said, his expression growing more serious and angered. “One thousand people are connected to this barrier, making it as strong as it is. I believe these bastards use the Curse that turned people into Yokai to fuel this Domain Barrier.”

“S-So… if we break it, the people will die?” Rose asked.

“I am not too sure, but their life is connected to it, they might die or end up like vegetables forever,” Drake explained nonchalantly.

“Then what can we do, father?” Benladra wondered, worried.

“Hahah, this is child’s play,” Drake shrugged. “I never had any issue with it, I am simply explaining to you what the bastard intended.”

Drake touched the barrier with the tip of his long claw on his index finger, sending a shockwave of pure divine essence.

FLAAASH!

The barrier didn’t break or shattered, but turned white from its dark purple color, being completely refined by Drake’s Divine Powers.

“I’ve refined it by overwhelming it with my Ascendancy Law, now this barrier… I control it, and I order it to open for us,” Drake smiled, as the barrier shook, creating a way for everyone to enter.

Drake quickly kicked the door open after that, as he and his family were greeted by a giant army of Zipangu’s Infantry, they were not just carrying sheathed katanas or naginatas, but also long black rifles, they had firearms.

And once they stepped forward, all of the soldiers, roughly over five hundred, pointed their rifles at Drake and his group, aiming and placing their fingers on the trigger.

And right in the middle of this entire army, there was a man sitting over a throne made of gold, being carried by ten other soldiers, wearing pitch-black kabuto-style armor.

“Well, well, well, you’ve finally showed yourself up! I’ve been waiting for you.”

“We finally meet… But well, you look like just a brat barely on his eighteens years of age,” Drake laughed. “You’re the Katsuie Shibata bastard that has caused all of these people to suffer?”
