Chapter 982: Reputation Points
As soon as Nicholas declared the remaining 7 players to have passed, almost all of them cheered and heaved a sigh of relief.
"Finally!" Azalea plopped to the ground, exhaustion colored her eyes.
"Yes, this is way too long of a trial." Floral Witch exhaled softly.
"Well, this was a fun one." Evelyn yawned and shrugged.
Almost immediately, nearly everyone turned to her with a dumbfounded look.
But before they could say anything, another voice echoed.
"Indeed, this is the most relaxing trial." Carmen nodded her head and felt at ease during the trial.
"Yeah, fun for you." Xu Feng clicked his tongue. "It would have been fun for me as well until the last bits."
"Oh, come on. You can’t possibly be sulking about losing 10 straight games of chess, right?"
"Who is sulking? Also, it’s not just 10 losing games, but 30 gold coins gone!"
Upon seeing their banters, some people, such as Azalea, Bloom, and Skylar, twitched their brows. They seemed to be hesitating whether or not to give Xu Feng a hard smack in the head.
How dare Xu Feng behave in such an aggrieved manner!
Not only was he excluded from the aptitude test, but the latter even increased the difficulty for everyone else.
It was already a miracle that they could all endure it till now. Yet Xu Feng’s current action provoked their suppressed emotions.
Thankfully, their emotions were suppressed once again when Nicholas cleared his throat. "Ahem, I suppose everyone doesn’t wish to stall any longer, right?"
Nodding, everyone quickly stopped their chattering and paid attention to Nicholas.
"Alright, the card that you’re about to receive is your fund and identity. If you lose the card, then you also lose your right to enter the Resonance City." Nicholas explained and swung his sleeve.
Soon, 7 sparkly cards were thrown toward them.
The players received the cards and noticed their names were listed, alongside a Resonance Points value.
"Those Resonance Points you have are the currency used in the Resonance City. They are determined based on your overall achievement and progress in the trial." Nicholas calmly said.
With that being said, everyone made sure to guard their point value a secret from others.
"How much do you have?" Carmen got close to Xu Feng and asked in a low tone.
Xu Feng didn’t respond and simply showed her his identity card.
—
Name: Lin Feng
Status: Honorary Citizen
Reputation Points: 1,000/3,000
Resonance Points: 5,750
—
Carmen’s eyes widened at his high value. She then glanced at her own identity card and frowned a bit.
—
Name: Lunar Wraith
Status: Honorary Citizen
Reputation Points: 500/3,000
Resonance Points: 3,500
—
"How come my points are lower than yours?" She raised an eyebrow and flashed her card to him.
"That’s because you didn’t interact with Elder Nicholas much." Xu Feng chuckled softly.
"Haven’t you noticed I’ve been giving some input regarding the trial to Elder Nicholas?"
"I did, but isn’t that just you trying to sabotage others? How does that help you earn more points?" Carmen rebuked and found it baffling that sabotaging others could grant one immense point.
"Indeed, I did it to sabotage, but the basis was still to alleviate Elder Nicholas’s plight. Do you think this kind of trial happens often?"
After being questioned, Carmen shook her head in response. Such a trial took even longer than the dungeon they did. No, it was safer to say that the passing rate of this trial was abysmally low.
150 participants in total, but only 7 participants passed.
This percentage rate was even lower than some university admission percentage rates.
"So you’re saying that you were getting into Elder Nicholas’s good book to earn points?" Carmen asked.
"Mhmm, one shouldn’t focus on just one goal, but multiple at once. Not only will it save effort and time, but it is also very efficient to gain benefits."
Realization dawned upon Carmen. She had learned something new again and understood that, other than sabotaging others, they should also search for immediate gains or benefits that come along with sabotaging.
Sometime later, Nicholas finished explaining the laws of the Resonance City, which was pretty much the same as all NPC Cities.
The only difference was that entry to the Resonance City cost Resonance Points.
To summarize, one must maintain a certain value of their points. Otherwise, they would lose their access to the city anyway.
"Alright, for the first-time entry, the price will be free. But the next time you wish to enter, 200 Resonance Points will be deducted. Of course, the charges could be lower as long as one has a higher status." Nicholas explained and subtly gazed at Xu Feng and Carmen.
Naturally, the rest should have their status as regular citizens, which meant they had to pay the full 200 Resonance Points.
However, Xu Feng and Carmen would only need to pay 100 Resonance Points because of their Honorary Citizen status.
Having been promoted from the start, the two of them kept quiet about it and feigned innocence. Nevertheless, it still couldn’t escape some of the suspicions and doubts from the others.
After all, they already knew about their special privilege. Only a retard wouldn’t think that their privilege continued to extend.
Unfortunately, they could only keep that in their minds as they were directly teleported away.
By the time they regained vision, a system prompt appeared in front of them.
System Notification: You have discovered the Hidden City, Resonance City! As the pioneer of the Resonance City, you have been granted 500 Resistance Points and 100 Reputation Points.
"Sweet, we only needed 1,000 Reputation Points to be promoted to Honorary Citizen. And we gained 100 already." Azalea exclaimed in joy.
"Don’t be too happy yet." Floral Witch said. "I doubt the Reputation Points are easy to earn. The first 100 must have been some bait to make us lower our guard."
With that bucket of cold water splashed right into her face, Azalea calmed her emotions.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng simply kept a calm expression. ’I reckon everyone would be scrambling for a measly amount of Reputation Points soon.’
