Chapter 983: Resonance Citizens
While the group began to admire the scenery of Resonance City, Nicholas proceeded to explain something.
"Alright, I have brought you over here. Keep in mind that you only have 1 hour to freely explore the city before you are required to pay to continue to stay." Nicholas said, causing the others to become dumbfounded.
It was said that the first-time entry was free, but they didn’t expect a duration limit to be imposed upon them.
However, their expression only deepened when Nicholas continued to drop some tear-jerking information.
"Once you paid, that would extend your duration to 24 hours unless you decided to leave the city. Keep in mind. When you leave the city, regardless of how much duration is left in your stay, it would become null."
"..."
Almost everyone was rendered speechless.
Although they had already anticipated the city to be very valuable, they didn’t expect that once they left the city, their duration would be wiped out.
Usually, their duration should have remained the same, similar to how some internet cafes would record how much time a customer has on their account. The customer might leave early and close the computer, but their duration would remain intact or rounded up.
It wouldn’t be nullified just because they decided to use the computer and were forced to turn it off due to an unexpected matter.
"Elder Nicholas, isn’t this ruling a bit too much?" Azalea raised her hand and said. Her Resonance Points weren’t high at all, and at most, she could only do 2 visits.
However, she knew that the currency used in the city was also Resonance Points.
In other words, she might be forced to spend more of her Resonance Points on items and would only have 1 visitation attempt left.
Yet that 1 visitation attempt might be used right away.
1 hour might sound like a long time, but in a city that spans across many acres and has numerous spots to explore. That 1 hour would be long gone before she could even explore half of the city.
"This is the rule of Resonance City!" Nicholas said coldly. "Don’t think that just passing the trial makes you special. Almost every person in this city is capable of passing it with extreme ease. If you are dissatisfied with the rules, then you are always free to leave. No one will force you to stay."
"My subordinate overspoke her words. Please forgive my lack of discipline toward her, Elder Nicholas." Before Azalea could respond, Floral Witch stepped forward and apologized.
Seeing that Floral Witch was apologizing sincerely, Nicholas simply turned around and walked toward Xu Feng.
His cold expression was quickly replaced with a warm smile. "Junior, my duty is done, and I’ll need to report it to the administration. Feel free to find me at Dyker Avenue and ask around. Just say you’re a junior of mine, and the people there will guide you."
"Thank you, Elder Nicholas." Xu Feng bowed in respect. "Junior will definitely visit you after I get familiar with the city. I just hope Elder Nicholas won’t find me as a nuisance later on."
"Haha, good, very good!" Nicholas was satisfied and gave some advice to Xu Feng before teleporting away.
Based on the treatment he gave to Xu Feng, almost everyone had their eyes on him. Without a doubt, the key to succeeding in the Resonance City was none other than him.
Just like that, Xu Feng felt a sense of crisis, almost as if he had become a juicy piece of meat for a group of hungry people.
"We should leave now," he quickly turned to Carmen and said.
Nodding in agreement, the two made a few eye signals and darted away.
"Tsk, trying to run?" Azalea clicked her tongue. She was about to speak about how unscrupulous he was for trying to ditch them, but was dumbfounded.
Floral Witch, Evelyn, Bloom, and Skylar didn’t waste their saliva. They directly gave chase after Xu Feng, leaving Azalea far behind already.
"What the..." Stunned, Azalea realized they were getting further away amidst her confusion. She snapped out of her daze and hurriedly chased after them.
Meanwhile, far ahead, Xu Feng noticed they were being followed closely.
"Damn, they really are shameless like the Guild Leader." Carmen hissed when she realized these women had no bottom line.
"Why am I included in your statement?" Xu Feng felt wronged. Even he wouldn’t be that shameless to follow other people’s footsteps. However, his mind turned chaotic when he recalled how he utilized many people’s fortuitous encounters to benefit him instead.
"I knew it. That guilty face said it all." Carmen rolled her eyes when she saw his guilty face.
"Huh? I didn’t even move a muscle on my face." He was startled.
His face was nearly stoic most of the time to prevent others from reading him. Oftentimes, he would reveal facial expressions when he wanted to deceive and fool the opponents.
But he was positive that he didn’t move a muscle this time.
"I can sense the mood." Carmen suddenly said. "I’ll be really ignorant if I can’t tell the difference."
"Is that so?"
"Anyway, let’s take a sharp turn in the street up ahead. I already took notice of the map, and there’s an underground passage. We can fake going there." She suggested.
"Alright," he didn’t refuse and accepted the proposal.
Sometime later, the two of them made a sharp turn, taking the people behind by surprise.
"Damn, there’s an underground market in the city."
"Stop talking and chase!"
The women refused to give up and dashed to the underground market. Alas, the underground market was even more cramped than the surface level.
Moreover, there were many people walking around and chatting amongst each other. Some were casually chatting, and some were bargaining for the prices of the items.
Seeing the situation, Evelyn was the first to give up.
"Seems like we can only explore on our own. Good luck to the rest of you." She calmly said and returned to the upper level.
"I’ll take my leave as well," Skylar said and proceeded to walk further in the underground market.
Bloom didn’t say anything and simply left without a sound.
"Do we still linger here, Boss?" Azalea smiled bitterly and asked Floral Witch.
"Hah, let’s just return to the surface."
