The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1529 - 1529: A Blur of Training (2)

Immediately, Rex recalled the moment he used the Invincible II item.

At that moment, he could feel every single source of foreign power that came from reaching the ranks above him. It was surreal. He felt like an empty cup that was filled to the brim—until the water spilled. Among those sensations, he felt clearly that his Soul Artifacts turned solid and heavier.

It must be a natural progression for the Soul Artifacts.

So, training his Soul Artifacts’ forms sounds good to him, and he wants to know.

“How?” Rex raised an eyebrow curiously.

April is a member of nobility, so she must be well-adverse to powerful techniques to get stronger.

“I knew a technique to train used by my house, so you can surely trust me.” She said lightly.

But Rex caught the meaningful tone she was using.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at her.

Being with April for four months straight, he got closer to her and knew her behaviour.

And now, he could tell when she wanted something in return.

“Let me guess, you’re asking me to train you in return?” Rex crossed his arms, knowing full well that this was the case. She always wanted him to train her, pestering him about pointing out some flaws in her fighting style. “I can tell from your eyes alone. So, is this going to be a trade?”

“It’s fair, right?” April remained composed. “If you get my technique, reaching the Eternal Spirit rank would be a lot easier for you. I know it’s still not comparable to the price you need to pay to have your skills and experiences, but this should count for something.”

“If we do this, our relationship will always be transactional. Is that fine?” Rex raised an eyebrow.

He was only teasing her.

To see if she valued getting closer to him more than the technique.

“Don’t put it like that,” April sighed, rubbing her temple. “Please? I really need it.”

Despite her plea, Rex remained silent, watching her.

Eventually, she helplessly gave up, “Okay, I’ll teach you the technique for free…”

“I’m only teasing you,” Rex shook his head. “Alright, I’ll take the deal. Let’s do it.”

“Great! Let’s start right away!” April nodded and stood up, eager for Rex’s veteran eyes’ help.

To reach the Master Immortal Spirit rank, one would need an Echo to merge with their Spirit Genesis—and strengthen it. Now, to reach the Eternal Spirit rank, one would need to merge the Echo with their Soul Artifact.

Based on the System’s explanation, the reason was quite simple.

A spirit at the Immortal Spirit rank has perfected their Spirit Genesis—essentially awakening their Soul Artifact for good. For those at the Master Immortal Spirit rank—they could use an Echo to boost their Spirit Genesis, making the Spirit Genesis stronger.

It is a delicate process needing absolute focus.

One wrong move and the Spirit Genesis would be cancelled, wasting a lot of life energy in the process.

Hence why it was called ‘Master’.

Anyone who settled on the Master Immortal Spirit rank would have delicate control over life energy.

In order to reach the Eternal Spirit rank, the person has to merge their associated Echo into their own Soul Artifacts. At the Master Immortal Spirit rank, when a Spirit Genesis was used, the life energy would remain the same but enhanced.

Essentially, the Echo was still an external force.

Almost like an item that has the ability to increase a spell’s power output.

But, in the Eternal Spirit rank, the Echo would become a part of the spirit and evolve the body.

To do that, the Soul Artifact must be robust to sustain an Echo.

Perhaps making the Soul Artifact solid would help—in sustaining this process, which was what April meant by what she said. Rex was excited. Being close with a noble lady has its perks, and now, he was enjoying one of those perks.

“First, you have to create this,” April went to the center and went on her knees.

She gathered her life energy into the tip of her index finger and created some sort of rune.

Or at least, it looked like a rune for Rex.

Not a complicated rune either, it was only formed by five strokes, taking the shape of a small rock with writing inside. As she made that, April explained, “This is the technique used by the Great Elder and was passed down to the descendants of the Aurelius Noble House. It’s created by my great-grandmother, who has already passed.”

Once she was done, she stood up again.

“How does it work?” Rex asked.

He already knew how it worked through the System, but that’d be weird to tell April.

Surely, she would be freaked out if she knew he understood how it worked with only one look.

“All you need to do is summon your Soul Artifact,” She explained, summoning the black nodachi, and placing it against the rune. Then, the rune hummed and glowed, its energy latching onto the blade. “Now, once it gripped your Soul Artifact like this, you need to pull on it.”

April pulled the black nodachi, and surprisingly, her muscles bulged.

From the looks of it, she was struggling to pull the black nodachi away from the rune.

It took her almost a minute of pulling, grunting heavily as she pulled with both hands, before she was finally able to pull the black nodachi. She almost stumbled—and fell backward from the motion, but she managed to stay standing.

“Do that until you’re tired, and your Soul Artifact’s form will gradually harden,” She explained.

Upon hearing this, Rex nodded lightly, “So, like muscle training?”

“Yeah… Yeah, you’re right,” April nodded, realizing the metaphor was perfect. “Like muscle training.”

Rex nodded his head and approached the rune.

His back was facing April as he summoned the Red Dawn of Kaiser and bent down.

Before starting, he touched the rune without April noticing, changing the shape of it a little bit.

All of my Soul Artifacts are SSS-grade—or stronger. The version of rune she made would not be able to handle them, so I have to tweak it a little bit with the System’s help. No need for her to know this, there was no reason for her to know.

Once he was done, he put the Red Dawn of Kaiser close to the rune.

As expected, the energy latched onto him hard like a vacuum.

Rex could feel it, the strength of the pull, and he wouldn’t be able to budge it without putting in some effort to do so. Regulating his breaths for a second, he firmly planted both feet like anchors, preparing to pull as hard as he could.

“Krrgh!”

Squatting down a little, Rex finally pulled as hard as he could.

Surprisingly enough, the weight was incredible—it was almost as if he was trying to pull the earth.

He grunted louder, veins and muscles bulging hard.

Bit by bit, he was able to lift his hand—the pull was harder at the start, but gradually became easier and easier as his hand gained some distance from the rune. At the two-minute mark— he managed to yank his hand away.

Right now, his body was already sleek with sweat.

And he was even slightly out of breath.

Upon seeing this, April rubbed the bottom of her nose with a slight satisfaction and pride.

“I didn’t know you would struggle that much,” She commented proudly. “I guess I’ve gotten stronger.”

Rex kept his composure.

He didn’t tell her the fact that he made the rune a lot harder, allowing her to bask in a small victory.

Just then, a notification appeared from the System.

<Notice: the user used a secret exercise technique from the Noble House of Aurelius!>

<Manifestation progression (Red Dawn of Kaiser): 0,01191%>

Seeing this, Rex smiled inwardly.

I guess I still have a long way to go, but time I have right now.

Once again, days passed in a frenzied blur of training.

Rex doesn’t need to sleep, his day consists of blocking the holes in his Spiritual Veins in the morning and cultivating his new Dark Auctoritas Echo to prepare it for the merging process, and then exercising his Soul Artifact form during the night.

He only stopped training every week when the sun was at its peak.

It was the time he spared to correct April’s fighting style and teach her how to actually fight.

Other than that, the time she spent with him was also used to eat.

Not out of necessity, but out of convenience.

Being in solitude inside the tower with little to no place for movement would make them feel cramped and caged, and a day of keeping communication like this greatly helped. Both of them barely went to greet the people downstairs.

However, the times that they did, they mostly wanted to check on the others and eat together.

It was all April’s requests, but Rex found no harm in agreeing.

Despite knowing what he needed to do right now, training to get stronger, he couldn’t help—but take a moment for himself every three to six months. He was still thinking about Linthia, wondering if by now, she had already reached another bubble or not.

Around the Mahkam Ruin, there are other small places.

So, he was wondering whether Linthia had already reached a place or not.

He tried not to think of her being mauled by Voidal Monsters already, but that always crossed his mind.

Other than that, he also missed the Mortal Realm.

No matter how much he tried to hide it or keep composure, the others’ faces kept crossing his mind.

Had he been sleeping, he might’ve dreamt about them already.

Fortunately, he has no plan to go to sleep.

At the second-year mark, Rex and April went down again to check on the others.

But as soon as they did, they were surprised to see the sight.

“Come on, how can those people act like this?” April exhaled exasperatedly, seeing that there were only about thirty people left on the lower floors. Most of them have already gotten out, unable to endure the solitude and confinement. “This is a lifetime opportunity, and they left…? A hundred years stronger and they decided to leave…?”

“Not everyone has the same kind of drive,” Rex shook his head. “Not everyone is like us.”

“Frankly, I thought they wouldn’t last a year,” He added, shrugging his shoulders.

For him, this was already beyond his expectations.

Even though the Forsaken Tower would be active for exactly ten days, or a hundred years inside, there would only be a few who would be able to withstand it all. Strength is everything, but not every single person has the dedication to achieve it.

Not all of them have the motivation like Rex or April.

Despite being given an opportunity this massive, not all could persevere through it.

Annoyed and angry at the same time, April turned around and headed back upstairs.

Rex followed suit, deciding not to share the food he purchased from the Shop with the remaining warriors.

Scanning the chamber, he found April sitting against the wall.

Her face was still twisted, pissed at the others’ decisions.

“Are you really that annoyed?” Rex chuckled lightly as he took a seat across her. “Shouldn’t you be expecting this already?”

“How can I?” April huffed. “I’d risked my life for an opportunity like this, and they tossed it away.”

“You’re of noble blood, you’re carrying a responsibility of their name,” Rex elaborated, knowing full well the reason behind April being this angry. “But that wasn’t the case for them, they didn’t have the drive to reach the peak.”

“But they saw what happened to their ruin, how can they think like this?” She argued.

Having to feel the taste of destruction, they should all aspire to be strong.

But they didn’t.

“Even then, they were saved,” Rex answered. “We saved them. They barely did anything to contribute.”

Upon hearing this, April buried her face in her knees.

For a second, she only breathes, calming her burning nerves.

But then, a question flowed out of her mouth, “I’ve been meaning to ask. Lord Rex, who was she? Who was the woman who attacked us and killed Crimoria?”
