Villain Ch 986. Shabby Excuses

Allen nodded, a touch of pride warming his smile. “Yeah, I figured tonight should be special, so I decided to cook. Nothing too fancy, but I think you’ll like it.” His voice carried a quiet confidence, the kind that comes from wanting to impress those he cares about.

Jane’s eyes lit up with excitement, her lips curving into a genuine smile. “I’ll look forward to it,” she replied, her voice tinged with eager anticipation.

The thought of tasting Allen’s cooking added an extra thrill to the evening, especially since the girls knew he could cook but had never had the opportunity to try his creations.

Shea exchanged a quick, knowing glance with the others before turning back to Allen. “We’ll just use the bathroom to get ready. We need a bit of a touch-up,” she said, a playful glint in her eyes as she flashed a conspiratorial smile.

The others nodded in agreement, their expressions reflecting a mix of excitement and amusement, as if they were in on a shared secret.

As they spoke, Zoe, Vivian, and Larissa quietly slipped out of the room, moving with purpose but trying to stay unnoticed. They quickly gathered a few bags that had been sitting inconspicuously by the door. There were three cabin suitcases in total, each one seemingly filled to the brim. But despite their efforts to be discreet, their movements didn’t escape Allen’s sharp notice.

His curiosity was immediately piqued, a slight frown tugging at his brow as he watched them.

“Why did you guys bring so much stuff?” Allen asked, the question tumbling out spontaneously. His confusion was evident, brows furrowed as he tried to make sense of it. “You’re just staying the night, right?” he asked.

The trio froze in place, their faces reflecting a brief moment of panic as they exchanged quick, nervous glances. It was clear they hadn’t expected Allen to notice, let alone question them about it.

“Well, you see,” Vivian began, her voice faltering slightly as she tried to find the right words. Her usual confidence wavered, and she fidgeted with the handle of her suitcase, her mind racing for a suitable answer. “We wanted to be prepared for anything,” she shot.

“Yeah,” Zoe chimed in quickly, her tone a little too eager as she nodded for emphasis. Her wide eyes and nervous smile betrayed her attempt to play it cool. “You never know what might happen. Better to be over prepared than underprepared, right?” She ended it with a small smile to make it a bit natural.

Larissa struggled to maintain her composure. Her lips pressed into a tight smile, and she forced a light chuckle. “Exactly. We just thought it would be a good idea to bring some extra things. You know, just in case.” Her voice was steady, but the slight tension in her shoulders and the quick dart of her eyes told a different story.

Allen raised an eyebrow, still not entirely convinced by their vague explanation. “Extra things? Like what?” he asked, his curiosity piqued. He couldn’t help but notice the trio’s slight hesitation as they exchanged nervous glances, clearly trying to come up with a plausible excuse.

But then, a realization dawned on him right after those words out of his mouth. ‘Oh right… the lingerie!’ he thought, suddenly understanding their predicament. The girls had likely brought along more than just a change of clothes; they were probably planning to surprise him with something a bit more intimate later in the evening.

They were trying to keep their plans under wraps, and Allen couldn’t help but find the whole situation endearing.

Larissa, sensing the need to provide some kind of explanation, quickly spoke up. “Uh, like our sleepwear, for example,” she said, her voice laced with just enough truth to be believable. It was a shabby excuse. Discover more content at My Virtual Library Empire

“You don’t expect us to sleep or hang out in these dresses all night, right?” She gestured to the elegant, form-fitting dress she was wearing, as if to emphasize how impractical it would be for lounging around.

Allen, realizing their intentions and deciding to play along, nodded slowly. “Makes sense,” he said, doing his best to keep his tone neutral. Inside, though, he was smiling at their efforts to maintain the surprise. He had no intention of ruining their plans, so he chose to play dumb, allowing them to continue with their little charade.

Zoe, who had been quietly clutching one of the suitcases, seemed to relax slightly at Allen’s response. “Yeah, exactly,” she chimed in, her tone more confident now that Larissa had provided a plausible excuse. “We just wanted to be comfortable, that’s all.”

Vivian added with a grin, “And you never know what kind of mood we’ll be in later, so it’s best to be prepared.” Her playful tone hinted at the underlying truth, but she kept it light enough that Allen could easily play along without feeling pressured to dig deeper.

Allen, keeping up the act, nodded again. “Of course. It’s always good to be prepared,” he agreed, trying not to let his amusement show too much. He could see through their thinly veiled excuses, but he appreciated the effort they were putting into making the evening special.

Shea turned to the others. “Let’s go. We should really get ready now,” she said, her voice taking on a more focused tone. “A little touch-up, and we’ll be all set for the night.” She gave Allen a knowing look, as if to say, ‘We’ll be ready soon, so don’t worry.’

Allen smiled at her, his earlier curiosity satisfied. “Take your time,” he said, waving them off. “I’ll make sure the food is ready by the time you’re done.”

The girls hurriedly made their way into the bathroom with their suitcases behind them. Despite their initial panic, they managed to slip inside without further incident, grateful that Allen didn’t press them too hard about their luggage’s contents. The large bathroom, lavishly decorated and spacious enough to accommodate them all, quickly became a flurry of activity as they prepared for the evening.
